There's a typo on the photo you posted and the PDF - the chip in the lower right corner is labelled for the "touchscreen", but elsewhere in the doc it is described as for the "touchwheel".
An iPod with a touchscreen would be an interesting thing, but this is not such an iPod :-)

I too was asking what the touchscreen chip was for... now I know! Brokers aren't good at reverse engineering electronics...
