iTunes 6.01

That was quick! Run Software Update now to grab iTunes 6.01, weighing in at 12.8MBs. The new version is supposed to offer "several stability improvements over iTunes 6."
I just installed it with no problems and no noticable difference so far. Lock n' load.
[Thanks, Cary!]

With the release of iTunes 6 (and iTunes 5 for that matter), how come Apple didn't change the color of the musical notes in the application's icon as they did in previous versions? If I remember correctly, in iTunes 3, the notes were purple and in iTunes 2, they were blue. In iTunes 1, the icon had multi colored notes. Just an observation.

I've been having a problem where, when I put iTunes in mini player mode, the forward and backward scrub buttons refused to stay pressed down. I'm hoping that this fixes that issue.

When will Apple start telling us what they REALLY fixed?
I'm so sick and tired of "fixes several stability issues related to..."
Maybe it's the developer in me, but i want to know exactly what problems were fixed, who they affected, and what they did to resolve them.
I doubt that i'll ever get my wish though. :(
I'm sad.

In response to Jay, I have been using iTunes since before iTunes (i.e. Apple's CD player), you are right about the icons changing colour. IMHO, I think Apple haven't changed the icon colour, because iTunes is now out with the masses, people recognise iTunes as a green quaver (thats what the icon note is FYI :P) if it were to change colour people would be like waaah iTunes is different.
Heh.

It's not a quaver. A quaver is a single eighth-note on its own. The iTunes icon just shows two notes joined with a beam. Meaningless without a time signature. Sorry for being pedantic!!!! :-P

Sheesh. Who cares about a small fix for iTunes - where the hell is 10.4.3 that was due mid September? I *need* several of the fixes that are due in 10.4.3.
And by *need* I mean it is far more important to my livelyhood than a music player crashing if I download a TV sitcom.
(Wait, what does video and TV have to do with TUNES? Why isn't it "iMedia" now? or something like that...)

When I check for iTunes update it says that 6.0 is the latest. Whats the deal?

Does iTunes 6.whatever work any better? All I want is for it to respond as well with 12,000 tracks as it does with 1,200. Is that so much to ask for?

I'll tell you whats different about it. It prevents you from adding your own .mp4 files to the video library like I was able to do 2 days ago. So much for that Handbrake article you just ran, TUAW.

I gotta disagree with Kyle (comment number 11), I've updated to 6.0.1 and I can stilll copy my own .MP4 videos to the itunes library and subsequently my 5G iPod as well. It still works!
