Dori Smith has found an interesting way to keep track of her Mac consulting via iChat and a service called FlavorSofa. Dori notes, "The way it works is, say someone wants me to help with a project or answer a question. If they're a Mac user, I tell them my FlavorSofa IM account, and they contact me via iChat. They'll need to set up a FlavorSofa account in the first place (with a credit card), but after that, they can just ping me whenever they see that I'm available. FlavorSofa handles the billing (by the minute), and I'll periodically get a check."
Might be a good way to manage an at home Mac-consulting career for any of you industrious techies out there thinking about striking out on your own. Check it out.

Looks like a cool service, but i'd really like the ability to browse ALL sellers instead of the top sellers.

Silly me, I have an old fashioned credit card processing merchant account that I use to charge client's credit cards when i need to and they can reach me via phone, IM, email or just by screaming really loud when I am in the vicinity. If i started charging by the minute, I think I'd be in a different line of work :)

Hi, I just saw the comment about browsing ALL sellers. Sorry, we need to make it easier to reach. Please click the Browse/Search link on any page, then click the "Show ALL Sellers" button on the right side of the Browse page. We'll make it easier soon, but that's how you can see ALL sellers at present. Thanks!

Oh, also, regarding the "different line of work", I know you're talking about legal advice, right :-). Seriously, there are certainly other ways (more established ways) to bill, but we think automatic, real-time billing will be great in some cases and just convenient in others. And it won't be right for some uses.
Thx.
