Amnesty updated to version 1.1
Amnesty is the widget browser that lets you run your Dashboard widgets outside of the Dashboard environment, making it more like Amnesty will run you $19.95US, and requires Mac OS 10.3.9 or later (10.4 is recommended).

Yeah, the F12 trick is kindof useless because widgets float over all your windows unlike Amnesty where you can put them in your desktop.

The widget will now be on your desktop. Repeat as necessary. Do the opposite to put them back to the dashboard layer or just hold option down while hovering above to get the delete button (X) to close the widget completely.

If you hold down your Dashboard key (mine is F8, for example), your Dashboard is called up. Let it go and the Dashboard goes away again. So for me calling up the weather is pretty much a nothing thought process for me. One keypress is no worse than clicking over to the widget on my desktop. And if you're not using your entire desktop... well I guess this doesn't help you.

December 13 2005 at 1:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replysome dude is right, you can do it for free. However, the built in debugging mode only allows for widgets to be on top of all other windows, in my experience; I would assume Amnesty would allow for custom window ordering and such. Could be my use of virtual desktops too; YMMV.
