Agreed on the ridiculous specs. My dual 1ghz machine with 1.5Gb ram and a 128 meg geforce card couldn't handle the doom3 demo. The new specs will probably require a dual core g5, 4Gb ram and a 2gb gfx card. *sigh* I'll stick with my PS2.

if it's anything like Doom 3 was on the Mac, then it'll be hideously unplayable unless you have a sparkly new G5. I could just about get away with playing Doom 3 on my Dual (1.25) G4/2GB Mem/128mb 9800Pro, after tweaking the settings around to enable lame-o-vision (ie. low res, no funky effects). Hopefully more optimisation will go into this though.. I've not yet got my hands on Q4, so playing on the Mac will likely be my first time.

I hope they optimise this one a bit better then they did with doom 3!

Figure this is going to require the same sort of hardware that Doom 3 needs. I've already played through the game (on a PC) and it's visually very impressive. It's a return to the sort of gameplay that gave Quake 2 its high replay value. I doubt I'll ever own a Mac with the horsepower to play Q4, so I won't buy it, but if you've got a G5, give it a go once it's available.
