Griffin ships iTrip for iPod nano
Griffin Technology announced the new iTrip for the iPod nano a couple of months ago. The
good news is that it's now
shipping. This baby is billed as the most advanced iTrip ever. The new design is sled-like to avoid bulking up the profile of your iPod nano. You just slide your iPod nano into the iTrip's slim body.
Station info is displayed directly on the iPod nano's LCD screen. This iTrip also has "Smart Sense" volume control that automatically adjusts volume for optimal quality. You can select stereo or mono (to get you through rough reception spots). And you can charge or sync your iPod nano while connected through the iTrip's built-in USB port.
Retail price from Griffin Technology is $49.99. How much do you want one?

Dear Griffin,
Thank you for finally releasing another fine accessory for iPods. You really outdid yourself this time. The best part about the iTrio for the nano is that you can charge whilst still using it. Also, good idea for using the iPod screen to display the station instead of incurring more product cost by developing a tiny LCD built into the iTrip that would draw a little bit more battery life out of the iPod.

Will this work with nine out of ten nano cases?

If it has a mini-USB port like the new iTrip w/ Dock connector, I know a lot of people will be pissed. I have no idea why they bothered doing that; it's more of a hassle than anything. It also doesn't help that there are no mini-usb chargers out there, unless you buy something like a PowerJolt and a separate USB-MiniUSB cable.
In this case, I prefer the proprietary, STANDARD dock connector. Despite using iTrips for my 2nd Gen and my 4th Gen, I got an Airplay2 and charger. So far, it's far superior to any one of the previous iTrips.

It doesn't matter how cute each generation of iTrip is. The fact remains...FM transmission blows. The sound quality is almost cut in half and driving from town to town means changing stations all the time.

I quit my job just so that I could say that I am too poor to buy one.

jesus christ, i hate itrips, they never work right, the whole "play the station file" thing is annoying, most of the time you have to unplug the thing and put it back in. they need to make one with a lcs scrren with buttons. cause using the ipod to activate itrip is a nice idea but it sucks.

That is probably the best designed iTrip.

Really nice but for use in a car, the iTrip Auto seems a lot better - it comes with a power adaptor for charging in car, and the dock connector plug means that you can use it while a case is on. I was going to get an iTrip Nano but I don't want to remove the case every time I want to play the iPod in the car.

I don't know what Griffin has been taking hits of lately, but I've lost complete interest after upgrading from my aging 3rd Gen to a new Video this past Christmas. Instead of spending $50 on a new iTrip, that, thanks to popularity, I can't pull up to a stop light without hearing a mixture of three other iTrips in close range; I went ahead and spent $30 more and had the local audio place install an AUX input for my car. No more 1/3rd battery life, no more changing stations every couple days to keep it in check, no more being limited to the volume in order to avoid flat out crappy audio quality. Best $90 I've spent this month.

Looks very promising. I'm actually considering getting one of these just for simplicity sake.
