Record 16-bit digital audio with your iPod
Here's a great
podcasting tool. The MicroMemo by XtremeMac is a
mic that plugs into your iPod's dock connector port and produces 22 KHz/16-bit, high quality recordings. The mic is on
a flexible neck for easy positioning, and there's a built in speaker for instant playback (no need to put on the
headphones). The MicroMemo is powered by the iPod (we're not sure how much of a strain that's going to put on the
iPod's battery) and the mic can be detached. Plus it just looks cool.XtremeMac is currently taking pre-orders at $79.95US.

Yea, 22k is HALF of broadcast/CD quality. Saying "high quality recordings" is misleading to say the least.

The logo on the bottom looks a lot like the Cingular's.

Um, that mikey extension mini-boom thing is just begging to get snapped off, bent, stressed, grabbed, and otherwise suffer a world of hurt.
My $0.02.

Why are the MINI and NANO always cut out of this technology. Its not hard they are almost the same ipods. Yet we can never record with them. The Nano is almost identical to the Video. Lets take a stand.
Apple make the NANO record!

I saw one of these at MacWorld and immediately put it on my I want one list. I like the fact that you can remove the small mic that comes with it and insert your own high-end mic.

Just what the dr. ordered, this is all I wanted from Macword (beside a new macbook pro) I'm wondering why hasn't belkin or griffin created one of these yet?

Quit whining! If you can tell the difference between 22K and 44K *VOICE* recording, you must have Bionic ears.
22KHz is more than enough for voice recording -- which is what this device -- and it's little boom mike -- is made for.

I'm even more surprised that it wasn't Apple who released a microphone/recording accessory first. It just makes logical sense with Apple pushing the whole podcast thing.
1) Record your podcast or interview with the iPod
2) Sync with iTunes
3) Edit in GarageBand
4) Publish with iWeb to .Mac
5) iTunes automagically loads new podcast on subscribers iPods
6) Profit!(Apple that is)
