Mr. LaForge, your iPod video is ready
Introduced at
last week's Macworld expo, the MyVu Personal Media Player by MicroOptical looks
like...well...Geordi's visor. When connected to a fifth generation iPod, it allows you to watch stored video displayed,
quite literally, right before your eyes. Attached earbuds provide the sound. From the press release:"By connecting the small, ultra-light 'binocular' eyewear viewer to an iPod, users can watch their favorite music videos, video podcasts and TV shows with a large image right in front of their eyes...Because the display and audio systems are built into the eyewear, myvu can be worn in any position -- reclining on an airplane, sitting on a park bench and even lying down on a couch."
It provides a virtual field of view at approximately 13.5 degrees horizontal and 16.8 degrees diagonal on a 25" (virtual) screen at 2 meters. It reminds me of all of the "virtual reality" hubbub we had to endure in the early 90's.

MrBlank: Yes, it totally does. Isn't she on ER now? Either way, she's REALLY excited to be using the MyVu.

Great idea -- I love the concept. The glasses look too goofy though -- makes me think the manufacture targetted 15-year olds (or... the Jettsons).
I'd like to see them come out with a more traditional-looking sunglass design.

Tried them on at Macworld -- quite nice. The best part was the price... but I cannot for the life of me remember how much they were. I just remember hearing a figure significantly less than what I expected. I remember seeing something similar from some big names a while back and it was pretty expensive.

They were about $200 - $250 I thought.
I actually didn't like them, though -- the quality didn't seem crisp, and it just looked like a small screen far away. I wasn't impressed.

Based on her expression, I could make a lewd comment on what is going on in the video she's watching. :-)

Tested these and I think the implementation is terrible.
