iPod as theological metaphor?
Metropolitan
Baptist Church Pastor Sal Sberna of Houston, TX has been delivering a series of four "iPod Theology" sermons
that focus on the simplicity of the iPod. Sal said that his intention is to tap into the pool of millions of iPod
owners, who represent a potentially huge audience for his church. "The reason the outside of the iPod is so simple to use and so beautiful to look at is because of the way they designed the inside of the iPod," said Sberna. "All you do on the outside is push the little button, drive the wheel and pick what usefulness you want out of your iPod, and so when Jesus talks to us about simplification, it must start on the inside." If you've had any doubts about the iPod's far-reaching appeal, consider them squashed.
Kudos to the pastor for trying to reach a younger audience by embracing some current technology. He says he hopes to one day make his sermons available as podcasts.

Your jaw will drop!
I like the idea of listening to sermons on my ipod. Great way to learn more about Jesus and how I should live my life. It doesn't get better than that!

Wow...I can't believe how how anyone can criticize Pastor Sberna with out actually going to The Met and listening to his sermons. I go to that church and it's really one of the best churches I've been to in Texas. I've lived all over Texas and have gone to many different churches and that church is so full of Holy Spirit. I have to say that saying it's an "embarrassment" is harsh and judgemental. Pastor Sberna doesn't stray from God's word but uses metaphor's to reach people. Everything he preaches about comes from God's word. I would greatly suggest that one should come and visit the church or at the very least listen to one of his sermons before being so judgemental. Have a good day!

The people there were friendly and his message wasn't about the iPod at all. He just used it as a springboard or illlustration to teach about the greatness of God and his love for people. Very good communicator and the music was incredible for a church band.

...as soon as he figures out how to get people to pay for them. Praise Jesus!
