iMod, YouMod, WeAllMod for the iMod Hifi Audio Mod

If you've been dreaming of "A tighter, more articulately defined bass" and "A firmer and more expansive image" for your 4G iPod, look no further than the Red Wine iMod service. For $199.00 plus $15.00 return shipping, your 4G iPod will be modded as follows:

  • New SMT Coupling Caps after the Wolfson DAC
  • DHLabs silver wire connecting the DAC's output to the 1/8th inch jack (rendering it only a line-out jack)
  • Bypass of the Opamp output stage after the DAC
  • Bypass of the surface mount components in the signal path
  • Free battery installation
If anyone has A-B tested the audio between a standard 4G iPod and an iModded iPod, please let me know in the comments!

I heard you could improve the sound quality by drawing around the clickwheel with a green marker...

Do they rub it with special audiophile grade cleaning solution and super polarized bit widgets to get the best sound EVAR out of it.

Maybe a case made of old growth timber from the foot of a volcano that can increase the harmonic resonance.

I think my 4G sounded better than the 5G, but thats just me.

I wonder if that voids my factory warranty (he he he)? For $200 I'd just fork out a couple extra bucks and get a video iPod.

Or you can buy an iPod Shuffle, a Nano or iPod Video who have higher quality too.

Note that they also offer an option to run the line-out through the back of the ipod, which enables you to still use the headphone jack. I was shocked at the level of acceptance the ipod has been given in the audiophile community. I would love to see some reviews of the sound difference.
