Get your iTunes music onto other devices with Thrupp

While I've been a happy iPod owner since the very first 5 GB model, I realize that we live in a world with plenty of other devices that can play music. Fortunately, a company by the name of "utsire" realizes this as well and has created Thrupp, a handy utility for sending your iTunes music (sans iTMS purchases) to virtually any other MP3 player that can be mounted as a drive in the Finder, including music phones.

Thrupp is smart too, as it not only can convert AAC songs to MP3 for your device on the fly in the background while you work, it can also display all file sizes and free space, letting you keep an eye on exactly how much space each song is going to take up. Now I haven't grabbed a copy since I don't have any music playing devices besides an iPod, but Thrupp's screenshot looks like it can display your entire iTunes music library as well as your playlists, making it easy to track down just the songs and albums you want.

Overall this looks like a good app for all those non-iPod devices out there. A demo is available, and a full license is $14.95.

#3 Now thats what I want too - something that will transcode Apple Lossless to AAC when syncing with my iPod - why oh why does iTunes do this for shuffles and not for all ipods?

I do not like to keep my own music compressed in iTunes (particularly classical and jazz). I store all my music CD's as Apple Lossless.

This would possibly be good for even the iPod if it allows you to copy files from Apple Lossless onto a device as AAC or MP3 (e.g.. iPod Shuffle and Motorola's ROKR do not take Lossless, and 1GB SD-ram card fills up pretty quick)

Does anybody know of any other apps that will down-sample your music on the fly onto the iPod, while keeping your library in tact?

I use a better FREE ap calles 'synctunes' anyone interested in this should google it and download it. It works wonders and show playlists and supports podcasts aswell.

David C: Silence you jackass its stupid of you to suggest that someone who doesnt have an iPOD is an "unfortunate souls" I like to listen to music but not enough to spend 140+ on a dedicated ipod my 1gb memory stick fits more than enough songs on for me. Also when my phone rings it automatically stops playing music and pauses it when I answer it. No such luck with an iPOD.

That's nice to have I suppose, for the unfortunate souls that don't have iPods.
