I feel your pain, Alex. I remember when I could not longer run iMovie my old indigo iBook because of screen resolution. Poor old Macs.

Those specs are stupid.... They recomend a 2.0Ghz Intel chip... So Ok, the system I bought today is gonna run it good. So does that mean the very next game or two that comes out I am gonna be the minmum??? Do you know what I am sayin???

Yes Fish, that's what it means. You buy any Apple product knowing full well that in 6 months it's going to be replaced in the product line with something nearly twice as capable; and in 12 months it's going to be no more than a relic... nothing more than a fancy email and internet station (I know... that's about all I'm using my 1GHz iBook for these days). It would be foolish for game developers to limit themselves to what people bought two weeks ago. They've gotta push that envelope. It's always been this way for computer games on all platforms.

Those minimum requirements are lies if Q4 is based on Doom3. I don't play Doom3 on my 20inch iSight G5 b/c the frame rates are so horrible.
To not have the game jerk whenever I do a quick turn to look at a crowded area is not possible unless I turn all effects (shadows, bump mapping, etc) off, which makes it look about as good as Q1.

Under reccomended it says 2.0 GHZ, does this mean it is not reccomended to run on a 1.83 Core Duo MacBook Pro? Personally I find that pretty annoying considoring some PC's were able to incorporate the 2.0 ghz core duo (acer comes to mind) into their laptops, and others will probably include the 2.16 core duo. I know, I know, Macs aren't for gaming... but I thought I could at least show there getting more into that area by busting this on a 1.83 MacBook Pro, but looks like I'll be edged out by the acer and other PC's once again, continuing the lose the argument that Macs are making the right steps to be more gaming-friendly. Well there desktops are I guess, but as for laptops guess they still got a ways to go. I will easily forgive this and care less though if the MacBook Pro gets 4+ hours of battery life (realistically, not estimated from Apple etc.) Since most powerful laptops only get 2-3 hours of realistic battery life, if the MacBook Pro can get 4 hours reliably and realistically, I'll forget I even wrote this post of complaint. :D

I gave up on mac gaming a looooong time ago, although I enjoyed it while it lasted. I haven't been able to run a new game in quite awhile since I have a G4 1.25 MDD. I look forward to the new desktop line for the ability to run high end graphics applications faster. I guess if I can play a game or two on it I'll be happy but not at all the reason I want a new mac. But hey, remember pathways into darkness? those were good times.

As an aside: Anyone know a good place to get an original CD-ROM version of Quake II? That game was so ... wrong.
