G4 and G5 optimized Firefox 1.5.01 released
Beaknik Pad has released his G4 and G5 optimized recompiles of
Firefox 1.5.01 for your pleasure. This puts the release in line with the official Firefox release.Remember, these are unofficial releases of Firefox so they can't use the icon and the name (so it is called 'DeerPark'), however, the application is exactly the same with the exception that it is optimized for either the G4 or G5.

"And what is with the redundant 'boomarks-##.html' files created in Firefox's '~xxxxxxx.default' directory?"
That's because of Spotlight. Add your profile folder to Spotlight's privacy settings and you'll never see another one of these files again.
#7: Huh? I'm on the official Firefox 1.5, PowerMac G5 1.8GHz, and there's nary a blip when I hold down the mouse button, let alone insane fan whirring. I've never ever experienced this on any of the release versions of Firefox. Suggest it's something to do with your config.

"What do you guys think of this Shiira browser?"
The Shiira browser seems to harness great potential and is a great browser if they could just get all the kinks out but as far as im concerned its buggy to hell and crashes often, im suprised it even came out of beta...
Re: Reinhard, comment#7...
That's a "feature". You can rev your fans like revving your car's engine at a stoplight. Only in this case it just annoys the person in the next cubicle. ;)
Does Cmd+Shift+Del now work to clear userdata? That was broken in v1.5. And what is with the redundant 'boomarks-##.html' files created in Firefox's '~xxxxxxx.default' directory? (boil down from your user Library) It just churns them out... to the tune of 100's of MB. Bad.
February 03 2006 at 7:58 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyToo bad, but this G5-optimized version still sports the "Mother of all Firefox-Bugs", namely gobbling up almost all of your CPU-Resources if you hold down your mouse-button (on my PowerMac 1.8MHz it runs up to 95%, the fans start to really blow). Why can't Firefox-Developers fix this?
Puzzled...
