Even more supposed invites to the Feb. 22nd event

Though I must admit that this one, and the one after the jump, look much more legitimate than the Airport version. However, let me be clear that we don't even know if there will be an event on February 22nd (I've emailed Apple about it, but they haven't gotten back to me).

The slogan on this supposed invite seems to hint at an iPod shuffle related announcement, but then there is the 'Golden Ticket' invite that you can see after the jump... I don't know what to make of that one.

Thanks to rosswf and Dave for sending these along.

As always, judge for yourself about the veracity of these.

Update: An eagle eyed reader noticed that February is misspelled on this invite, and that isn't Apple's style (though it is inline with my style, hence why I didn't notice it). Either it is a fake (and some people have way too much free time) or someone at Apple is getting fired.

Though I must admit that this one, and the one after the jump, look much more legitimate than the Airport version. However, let me be clear...

I really believe these are fake, BUT
There is some connection between the hints on the invitations: The airport express is rumored to get an update to video transmission, and that is exactly one of the products Willy Wonka uses in Charlie and the Choclate Factory (hence the golden ticket) He uses television technology (wireless video transfer) to transport chocolate bars. Thus, there is a wireless transportation of video, chocolate and a kid there, which is quite a mix up. (the last one is far-fetched, but may just point to more wireless capabilities.

Anywho, I believe these are fake, because of the obvious flaws, and Apple really wouldn't make the video airport express a main topic at an event.
But still a nice try

Scott is right about his post, he never said that is was official. Although they are obviously fakes, so the post should be updated to state that. The whole blogosphere is talking about this supposed event now.

This is a website for apple readers who like to talk about apple. Unfortunately there are some people who show professionalism and other that do not. For instance, Scott has shown it by trying to keep people calm (i.e. "Everyone just calm down.") Then there are others who show emotion by calling people names such as "lazy" or calling things "crap." While I support dialogue, I will not tolerate in my classrooms childish behavior. Scott wins points for trying to keep things under control.
Byll for making a comment about professionalism: You obviously lack understanding of what that includes when you use a comment to sharp shoot someone, such as you did. Professionalism Byll, includes not trying to incite a problem or problems.
Scott has done a good job and I WANTED TO SEE THE POST. What I did not want and it was unexpected was behavior that is obviously unbecoming of maturity. If you do not want to see the post, then do not visit it! It is that simple.

I for one wish I could go to a conference that Apple hosts. To reiterate what #13 said, How does one get invited to such an event?

the bottom line is this:
this post has every right to be filed, published, commented on, whatever. RUMORS are unconfirmed, probably fake tibits about a certain subject - and these "invites" are just that. even if they are fake by a long shot (which they most certainly are), they are nevertheless creating a torrent of feeling, animosity, and discussion among the "digerati," and therefore TUAW has done its duty, posting about it. it is not the journalists' job to make your decisions for you, LD and Ryan and whomever else. if you know/think these invites are fakes, good (i do). obviously, not everyone agrees with us; even if they did, IT IS STILL A RUMOR. get over your odd fascination with what this one blog posts, and read something else if you don't like the philosophy.

I have to admit, there is way too much fuss about this little post. While I normally just let these things go by with no more than letting it amuse me for a few moments, I feel with as much back-and-forth as this post generated, I might as well contribute.

I'm an avid TUAW reader, and love the blog. I read lots of blogs. I publish two of them myself. I work professionally in news, so I deal with a lot of copy-editing -- on the Internet, television, and in print. Small errors or misjudgments in copy can convey a message entirely different than the intended message.

I saw no such errors in this post, as I very rarely see them in any of Mr. McNulty's (or any othe TUAW blogger, for that matter) posts. His message was clear: "Here are some invites that became available to me, I have no proof that they are legitimate, but I'm sharing them with the readers anyways, because someone may want to see them.

He can't make everybody happy. Nobody can. Clearly, LD was not happy with this post. I was. I did not misunderstand, and I do not think they are legitimate invites ... nor do I believe Scott thinks this.

Either way, calm down. The TUAW bloggers do fine work, and feature many examples of good writing -- something I rarely see on this type of blog. Until the day they begin generating content specifically for you, LD, just let the posts that don't interest you pass by ... instead of attacking them as though the act of the post itself was a shot at your own credibility.

May I recommend Xanax?

Sometimes, it is difficult to tell the difference between Scott McNulty and LD. Two of a kind. (And, no, that is not a compliment to either of'em.)

I am going to come down on the side of entries with some substantive material in them. Try harder, TUAW bloggers.

LD-- I wish I had as much time to bitch as you seem to. If you don't like the post say it ONCE. Calling someone lazy (multiple times) because you don't like what they post in a blog makes me think you have a mental defect.

I enjoyed the post. Even if I later learn the entire thing is contrived I don't think it will make me want to toss out insults to the writers. If you don't like it, stop reading. Maybe create a blog the bitches about what other blogs write about.

Personally, I like a little make-believe mixed in with my mac news. Maybe some of us are holding on to the dream that something special might come this February 22!

I agree with LD completely. The story should be taken down because it gets people's hopes up. The instant I see something like this, I immediately start scanning for the word "fake" or "Photoshop". Why make the reader go through that? At the very least, you should change the word "supposed" to "fake". Then, of course, it would be even more ridiculous to keep it posted. What is this, a Photoshop gallery?
