Quicksilver trigger tutorial

Here at the TUAW compound Quicksilver has a permanent place on our altar of 'Good Apps.' We like it, heck, we love it! However, it isn't the most intuitive of programs.

Quicksilver has a raft of features that most people don't even know about, and triggers are one such feature (at least I didn't know about them). Luckily a great tutorial about using triggers has been written, so you'll be up to speed in no time.

What are triggers? You can assign specific key sequences, amongst other things, to 'trigger' an event on your Mac (launching a program, starting or stopping iTunes).

My girlfriend uses hotmail, which won't load in Safari (for some dark obscure reason). I've made a trigger (ctrl+command+H) that will load the hotmail url in Firefox (especially for her). So easy, it makes you want to cry.

I've been a LaunchBar user for years and just this week i decided to give Quicksilver another (proper) try. I've actually found that QS is slightly faster at launching apps, and I'm slowly getting used to doing more things with it like moving files, opening them with a specific app, uploading to ftp etc...

But i do still feel like I'm just touching the surface of this app's capabilities, so i'm glad you've brought up this tutorial.

Great! cant wait to try this out when i get off work. Had a strong suspicion that quicksilver was a lot more than what meets the eye. Its just a matter of finding the time to explore it.

Quicksilver is amazing and has amazing features, however, I switched back to Launchbar because of one reason only: speed. Launchbar is so much faster than Quicksilver it's not even funny. If that's not an issue for you, go for Quicksilver, you won't be disappointed!
