Sinbad to keynote MacGathering Tech Show in California

You thought S. Jobs' keynotes were da' bomb? Imagine sitting down for a keynote address by none other than comedian "Isn't he a basketball player?" Sinbad, the ten-foot-tall star of classics like Houseguest and First Kid. Sinbad will deliver the keynote at this year's MacGathering Tech Show on Friday, May 19th, the first day of the show. You can download yourself an animated version of last year's Sinbadnote (free from show-sponsor iPod Garage) here (zip).

According to the release I was sent, MacGathering is a Mac-focused event in Southern California that "will feature evening socializing opportunities as well as daytime events." It notes "The Friday evening MacMixer™ is an excellent opportunity for attendees to meet and mingle," and that "various Apple-using celebrities, as well as luminaries from the Apple community, are expected to be in attendance."

MacGathering takes place at the Beverly Garland Hotel in N. Hollywood, California, on May 19th and 20th, and will feature an expo and various seminars. Check out their website for more details.

Sorry, Dan -- it was an error on my part. Failed to adequately triple double-check.

I thought it was done with humorous intent; that confusion of Shaq being in the genie movie with Sinbad the Comedian. Sinbad (the comedian) probably IS on the tall side, but not tall as Shaq when he is filmed as a gigantic special effects laden genie.

Lets talk about confusion, what about that early ipod commercial (being hooked to a powerbook or ibook) where the actor LOOKED incredibly like Jeff Goldblum, although it wasn't. But Jeff Goldblum was doing all the voiceovers for the apple ads in those days, when he wasn't using his powerbook to take down saucers chasing Will Smith (not to be confused with Will Robinson)

What happened to that pledge not to strip inaccuracy from posts? Looks like TUAW has gone back on it's word. True, it was identified in the comments and you fessed up, but that's more like being caught than admitting journalistic error.

Unless the hotel has changed its name recently, this event is being held at the Beverly Garland Hotel--not the Beverly Grand. The Beverly Garland hosts all sorts of computer and media events and is named for the one time TV actress who played "My Three Sons" step-mom. She used to own the place. Maybe still does. Hope this helps.

Yes, he was -- I realized that about three minutes after the post went live (aka, three minutes too late ;))
