Apple has halted bulk orders of Mac minis
With next
week's press event
looming, Apple has halted bulk orders of Mac minis, according to FreeMacBlog. Blogger Brian
writes:"Well, today we called to place our order for our next big batch of minis and we were told 'We’re not able to take large orders for Mac minis right now,' and that was it."
Is a change in the air for the mini? We'll have to wait and see, but when it does happen, we're pretty sure it won't look like this.
Thanks, Brian!

I know a new MacMini Media Center would look so sexy next to my 64" Sony Big Screen TV!!! :)

I see this at least being an Intel Mac Mini with frontrow. That's probably going to be it though. I don't see Apple dealing with TV tuners and on screen TV scheduals at this point in time.

I don't know; do you really think Apple would want to release the Mac Mini by saying, "Come see some fun new products"?
Then again, since their last few invites have been a bit revealing (see the theatre curtain for the iPod w/video release), maybe Steve wants to keep us out of the loop this time.

@Kevin
Well it would be a fun if they showed it in action after recording a show and then transferring to a full screen iPod that has the exact same UI as the Mini

i don't see apple including a tvtuner into any media centre pc. they have itunes, so if you want a tv show, you can download it from there. record off cable, no money for apple, download off itunes, money for apple, well whatever pittance is left after the networks and record lables take their 'share'.

So I wonder what Apple's policy is for people that recently purchased Mac minis. I just got mine on Friday. Does anyone know how Apple handles that kind of thing? Cause honestly, I've been underwhelmed by its performance, and little boost in performance would be nice.

Oh, yes, Chase. There is a policy in place for abashed, epicene gents like you! Simply call 1-800- SUCKER1 (Apple's secret hotline) and they will take back your Mini and do a free upgrade to the next version when it comes out!
Don't you feel better, now? You can stop bashing the Mini on the Apple Discussion boards because all your friend's 'puters are way faster and have all the latest PC gamez. Help is on the way!

Now I remember why I don't ever post comments. Instead of an actual response you always get these stupid reponses.
In case you weren't aware mojo, Apple has a history of giving refunds to people that have purchased systems from them within the last 30 days of the release of a new system.
epicene? give me a break.

Jeeeez, Mojo, calm down.
All he asked was what Apple's policy was on recently-outdated hardware. I think it's a fair enough question. He wasn't bashing anything, he just said he was [and i quote] "underwhelmed by its performance, and little boost in performance would be nice."
He never "(bashed) the Mini on the Apple Discussion boards because all your friend's 'puters are way faster and have all the latest PC gamez." He never even said anything of the sort - you just assumed he was a troll.
Maybe take a valium or something?

i guess it's something that has to do with the Mac Mini, we already came to the conclusion that they are somehow changing it. I personally don't like the Mac Mini, the iMac is my thing.

Hey Chase I'll give you a real response.
You just picked up your machine on Friday so you're well within the 30 day return Window. If a new Mini shows up in the next 30 days, the store may do a swap out - but more than likely you'll eat 10% and just get a new and probably significantly better machine.

I don't know why people are complaining. The machines get upgraded all the time. And you want to know the best way to get your money back? eBay!
Just take your old machine, sell it on eBay, and use the money earned against the purchase of a new machine. I've been doing it for the past 5-8 years and it works great.
Ditto with iPods. I've owned 3 iPods and with each one I just flipped it on eBay, got the one I needed and then... If something new came out... Flipped it again...

Thanks Gregory. I knew there had to be adults out there somewhere. I've been looking over the specs of the mini, and I think there are two things that make it seem slower than my last iMac. One is the slow system bus 167Mhz, and the other is the PC2700 RAM. Although the processor is about 50 % faster.

Jack, your method may work for you but I have found that eBay is a wholly unrealiable way of "pawning" your out of date technology. Each and every time I try to sell something over say $200I get a fraudulent buyer. It's effing rediculous, I end up wasting money on relisting fee's and whatnot when it wasn't even my fault that some jerk thought they could get the best of me. I say stay local with your out of date tech, sell it to someone face-to-face so that you know someone isn't trying to con you.
My 2 cents.

Graham, I've been selling on eBay since 1998 and have sold many items for over $200 without issue. If you ever get a flake, just tell eBay and you'll get all of your final sales fees back and you can relist again for free. Free if the item sells the next time. And 99 times out of 100 it will.
If you think you're better off selling locally or even on Craigslist, good luck. In my experience, face-to-face deals are often lowballed in favor of the buyer. On eBay there are many times I've been able to even make back the exact amount of money I paid for the item to begin with. And in some cases, I've made a profit.

To the best of my knowledge, Apple's policy is to refund the difference if there is a price drop on hardware you purchased within 14 days of the price drop. If you purchased a stock configuration at an Apple retail store, you can return a computer within 30 days under their "satisfaction guaranteed" clause. I do not know for sure if the 30 days policy applies to online sales, and they don't take returns on custom configured computers.
