Hm... that actually looks huge relative to the floor. Those wooden floor tiles are about 2" wide, aren't they? So this is probably about the size of an... let's say iMac G4 screen?

Yep I'm french and that is a big fake, this guy just did it for fun, have a look to : http://www.blogeek.ch/index.php?2006/02/24/32-ipod-video-photo-autre-photo-volee, you will understand. MacShrine are so dumb, this is not a video iPod. So we can except their first photo to be a fake.

I don't think it's a fake. I believe the same as dombi above. If it was a fake and it was a standard video iPod that would mean that each of those wooden floor strips are about a half to three quarters of an inch wide and they don't make them that small. I'd bet it's a tablet mac!

i would have to say this is fake. somebody must be really good at photoshop to pull that off. by looking at the flip photo you can tell the person probably just blacked it out and mirrored the display to make it look that way. hey if i wrong i'll eat my words tuesday.

Guys, the guy (on the french site : www.blogeek.ch) says he took his 5G ipod, put in on the ground and made a 'ipod video' fake.
It has nothing to do with the floor :P Like mjujum (#7) said, the guy did it for fun after the big deal about the first picture.

For future reference, here's a pretty good technique for detecting photoshopping. It took me about 15 seconds. See the picture I uploaded to flickr:

Here you can see the "ipod" photo with its levels (contrast, exposure, saturation, etc) adjusted via iphoto. This is a technique I read about which editors at Science magazine are now using to detect fraud. The adjusted photo clearly seems to show along the bottom edge of the "screen" evidence of photoshopping. Next time one of these fakes appears (tomorrow?), try this method.

I think its too early for apple to release a new iPod. The G5 is not that old. Changing the form factor again I think would be damaging for iPod sales given the totally changed the G5 form factor. I think the tablet idea is more likely. But we shall see shortly.

Oh, boy... I enjoy looking at fun product mockup ideas as much as the next person, but there are some people out there who are simply gullible beyond belief.
Example: this image is not only fake, the guy who did it admits that it's fake... and still, people insist that it must be real. Over and over, on site after site, people believe whatever they're told.
Actually, in microcosm, this explains a lot about our country these days!
