Tomorrow's press event: TUAW predictions

With just about 24 hours to go before the press event takes place, we here at TUAW got together in our secret offices in Bates City, Missouri to make our final predictions. Here's what we had to say.

C.K.:

  1. Most likely: Intel Mac mini
  2. MacBook (Intel iBook)
  3. Intel Mac mini Media center
  4. Media Center
  5. Least likely: video iTablet that works with the Intel Mac mini
Dave Chartier:

  1. AirPort Express with Video
  2. MacBook, hopefully wide screen
  3. That crazy new full-screen video iPod, since a lot of other companies-including Microsoft-seem poised to introduce their own soon
  4. Just to throw off the curve: a new line of Apple products for the home, such as an iFridge and iSuck (vacuum)
Fabienne:

  1. An iPod 6g (even if it isn't the touch screen gorgeousness that is rumored), possibly with better battery consumption and wireless capabilities
  2. An Intel-based iBook called the MacBook
  3. Some software, probably a pro app that has been updated for Intel-based machines with new features
Damien:

  1. iPod jukebox
  2. Asteroid
Victor:

  1. Intel Mac mini (w/Front Row & remote, naturally)
  2. iTunes Movie Store
  3. Airport Express video streaming
Scott:

  1. I'm thinking Intel Mac minis, and some sort of iPod related thing.  I
don't think we'll see Intel iBooks unless we also see Intel across the
board on the pro laptop side (since an Intel iBook, or MacBook, would
be faster than the existing 12 and 17 inch powerbooks).
Jan:

  1. High-end expectation: widescreen iPod video
  2. More likely: Intel Mac mini
Dave Caolo:

  1. iPod boom box
  2. Various Apple-branded iPod accessory goodies
  3. Flying Jetsons car (It's 2006, for crying out loud. Why don't we have these?!?)
Dan:

  1. iPod Hi-Def Boombox
  2. Intel Mac mini
Be sure and come back tomorrow and tell us how brilliant we all are. Or not.

I think the Intel Mac Mini is most likely. I was expecting it right up to the end of the last keynote, but Steve threw a curveball and revealed the MacBook Pro.

I think Ashton's got a great idea, but I doubt it will happen. Gaming for the iPod makes sense--they could even avoid the whole cartridge/disc scene by letting folks download games from the iTMS. If Jobs were to announce something like this tomorrow, he'd have to have some 3rd party game companies already lined up--we'd probably hear about those through the grapevine.

I don't think the widescreen iPod is going to happen and as much as I'd like to see an iTablet, I doubt that will happen either. I think we'll see the boombox (why don't they call it the i-Fi???) and the Intel Mac Mini Media Center (IMMMC). At best we'll hear that Apple's going to try to buy Disney. I suppose we could hear about iPod size upgrades, but I'm guessing that'd be it.

Try this on for size:

Apple Computer buys Disney.

legitimate buisness-type publications are reporting it.
you people need one of those "Have great gadget news? Send us a tip!" things like engadget has.

Jesus H. Tapdancing Christ, enough with the Mac Media Center!! I'm so sick of hearing people go on and on about it! Remember Asteroid? The Garageband mixer hardware that all you rumor sites insisted was coming out a few years ago? Where is it now?

LD, you agree with me? I have either entered an alternate universe, or something is horribly awry.
