No one saw this one coming. Apple has introduced a leather iPod case for both the 5th generation iPods and the iPod nano. Made of fine Italian leather, these cases will set you back $99 each. However, they incorporate a clever black ribbon that makes getting your iPod out a breeze. No word yet on how one is supposed to watch a TV show from iTunes when your iPod is in this case.

Well, I figured since Steve didn't rev the iPod, I should. :) I fixed the error.
Sorry about that!

That's crazy. $100 for that..? Yes it's Italian leather and all, but don't they know we actually *USE* our iPods, so controls would be useful. And maybe the ability to see the screen without having to take it out of the case...
This whole event was a huge anticlimax. Maybe they had other stuff planned but pulled it. Next month's had sure better have more content. Time to start photoshopping the 30th anniversary Mac 'leaked' shots...

I guess Steve is trying the corner the entire iPod accessories market now. A little late in the game I think.

Not only is it a rip off price wise (the extra 1/20th of cent worth of ribbon not with standing) - what makes this truly lame is that somehow this piece of fabric earned an announcement as a product; this alone underscores what a crappy event today was.

How lame to offer a case with no access to the controls. What's Steve thinking when there are so many alternatives out there. Ives must have been busy on another product when they designed these cases.

how about something like the Nano Tubes for the regular iPod. Those Nano Tubes look very sleak.

$100.00!!??
That is just a joke... I fully expect this little tid bit to seriously be a big flopola.
I picked up a little leather cover for a comparitively small 30€ and there's access to everything....
Whatever Stevemeister!

Want to spend $99 on a iPod case? Get a Vaja. Much nicer and you can use your controls and see your screen!

I remember when cases like those came WITH the iPod (although they were not leather.) What is Apple thinking? I have a gut feeling the prices on these puppies will see a DRASTIC decrease due to lack of sales.
We can probably blame the Italian mob for charging Apple so much for their leather. (*Insert well chosen Godfather quote here.*)
