First it was
the Queen, now The Pope has received an
iPod. The Catholic News Service is reporting
that Pope Benedict XVI recently visited the Vatican Radio headquarters to celebrate the station's 75th anniversary,
where the employees presented him with a white iPod nano with "To His Holiness, Benedict XVI" engraved on the
back. So, what's on the Pope's iPod? Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky, plus Vatican Radio programming in English, Italian and German.
When asked what the thought of the little device, The Holy Father replied, "I'm just waiting for podcasts from Howard Stern." That last part was a joke.

They could hardly have given him a black one, now could they? It would really clash with that outfit.

So, wait let me get this straight:
1. His personal ride is a white, 2005 BMW X5 4.4i
2. He now owns a white, 6GB iPod Nano.
3. He has his own country!
On the other hand, I:
1. Can't afford a car
2. Own a green, 4GB iPod Mini (X-Mas present)
3. Barely make enough to pay rent on a tiny apartment.
Whatever happend to the vow of poverty?!?!

Not all priests take a vow of poverty. Only priests that belong to an order such as the Franciscans that includes a vow of Poverty in their vows. Also the Pope doesn't own the Vatican and really doesn't own "his" car. They are owned by the Holy See and often things like this are donated in the same way that say a car is given to Tiger Woods just so a Buick can say that Tiger drives a Buick. The Vatican as a country operates at a significant annual loss and works of art and historical treasures aside is not wealthy by any means.

In other news, the RIAA has filed a lawsuit against the Pope since he clearly did not have a license to the music preloaded on the iPod. Since a consumer never actually owns a song, it cannot be given from one person to another without the receiver purchasing their own license.
Although Beethoven has been dead for 400 years, the latest change to the Copyright law enacted by the U.S. Congress still grants him exclusive copyright on his symphonies and other works. Therefore, the government of Austria is asking for $100,000 in punative and other damages from His Holiness.
When asked, the Devil has no comment on his association with either the record companies or U.S. Congress, although rumors continue to circulate.

Right, the pope is poor, the Vatican is poor. All these catholic schools all over America, charging as much as they can, for a mediocre education, never tithe to the church, none of the billions of catholics around the world ever donate to the Church. Such a mountain of road apples. In Mexico, a priest is not even allowed to go out in public anymore, not in his robes, the starving poor there keep giving the priest all the families money for food or medicine because they think a prayer from a priest means more to God than their own word. The church is poor. Get a grip!!!
