BBEdit vs. TextMate
Francois Joseph de Kermadec no only has a better name than I do, he is also a much braver man. How else to explain
his willingness to pen a review pitting BBEdit vs. Textmate. Furthermore, he does the impossible and says that neither of them wins the
battle!Shocking, indeed. However, at the end of the article he points out why he pays for text editors (he has a license for both BBEdit and Textmate), and I don't think the answer will surprise you.

Great post and review, thanks! I'm a TextWrangler user but used to use BBEdit a lot "back in the day". ;-)

I agree with you XIV, Smultron is really great. Out of the 2 in the article TextMate wins hands down. Any application that isn't written in Cocoa on the Mac these days really shows its age. BBEdit and TextWrangler both feel so archaic.

All I can say is that I moved to TextMate 6 months or so ago and never looked back (after using BBEdit for 5+ years). TM is one of the best tools I've ever used. Occasionally I use BB or TextWranger on other Macs and they're still great but nothing compared to TextMate.

I would love to see a Vi(m) plugin and keymappings for either editor. Yes, I know my desire for this may be a sign of mental illness :D The first of these two applications ( or TextWrangler ) that has this will immediately become my favorite!

I switched from TacoHTML to TextWrangler. The only thing I miss from the days I used BBEdit is sorting lines. And the only thing I use Taco for now is debugging HTML. (Using Taco's "Order tags" option. It lets me tab the HTML so I can see where a closing DIV or TABLE tag are missing.)
TextWrangler FTW.
