Your mighty mice!

Yesterday, we linked to an image that showed up on Flickr that seemed to be the red, glowing visage of a mouse as generated by the light on the underside of an Apple Mighty Mouse. Whether or not Apple intended for their mice to put on this little display is really irrelevant, as it's just fun to show people ("Hey, want to see my mouse's mouse?"). A number of you sent in pictures of your own mice generating the little guy (apparently it works with the older Apple Pro Mice, too). Thanks to Zach, Jason, Jonathan and Gary.
We're happy to receive more, so feel free to link to an image of your own mouse's...um...inner mouse.*
*Kids, do not say "mouse" this many times at home. I am a professional.

Check it out.
Sorry, no photos.
None of my three mice (Microsoft and Logitech) projects anything remotely similar to a mouse.
March 22 2006 at 6:54 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMy starck mouse does almost the same thing. Nothing really too special but kinda cool.

I'd say that my logitech is giving me the same impression of #3 *gasp*
My apple mouse looks a bit like the Donnie Darko creature at some angles lol.
I think apple mice are actually made by logitech so maybe their mice do it do?
anyone got one?
My Microsoft Intellimouse I use on my heathen box puts out a shape but it's not the same.
I'm more interested in why my mighty mouse randomly darts all around the screen. I read somewhere the mighty mouse is very sensitive to the surface it's used on. I use it on a glossy dark wood surface and a very light colored mouse pad and it does it. Just randomly flies off the screen and activates my hot corners. I turn the mouse pad over and use it on the grainy rubber felt and it stops. But then again it makes rapid scrolling pretty tough since I'm slogging over sticky rubber.
All right, give Mephistophelian back his Ritalin.
March 22 2006 at 10:20 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnd then I read the second post. Please people it's not an Apple issue. It must be something about the optics required to make a working optical mouse.
March 22 2006 at 10:18 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHas anyone with a NON-APPLE mouse checked that they do NOT get the pattern? It could be something common to all optical mice. My optical trackball doesn't have a big red beam so I can't test it.
