On marketing, and a thanks to Apple's department
While
chatting with my brother this afternoon about (what else) this whole Boot
Camp thing and its ramifications, he brought up a great point concerning Apple's marketing and a good
choice they made with this new software:They didn't call it "iBoot."
Bonus points for not calling it "iBooty" either. Thanks guys.

When I first read the Boot Camp blurbs yesterday, I thought people were talking about one of those Cocoa programming Boot Camps they have occasionally. I thought the enthusiasm was a bit high for a Xcode programming seminar.

It's iBM because it does the whole PC OS kind of thing (though nobody I know calls them IBM compatibles anymore). It would be BM for boot manager. And it would also BM for the stuff one does, sitting on the toilet.

But I agree, it'd be a suck name for Windows-on-Mac.

On the other hand, It's not iOSX or iTiger or iLeopard either.

Could be worse. If Microsoft's marketing department named it, they would have called it "Apple Macintosh OS X 10.4.6 Microsoft Windows Compatible Dual-Boot Edition featuring Boot Camp" (or AMOSXMWCDBEFBC for short).
They may not have called it iBoot, but if you look at their page for Boot Camp, it notes: "Called Boot Camp (for now), you can download a public beta today."
Its not too late for them to call it iBoot...
I think a better name would be iCrash.
Or, iOpen your computer up to all kinds of nasty viruses, malware, and spyware
