Vista on a MacBook Pro

Marc Orchant got the Vista install disk working with a MacBook Pro and Boot Camp.  What was his secret?  Well, he just inserted a Vista disk instead of a Windows XP disk. There are also reports that Boot Camp supports various distros of Linux.

Update: Well, it looks like the Vista install process works, but Vista itself? Not so much. So, you can install Vista on an Intel Mac but you just can't run it.. much like a PC. I kid, I kid.

Enough with the BOOT CAMP... I thought today was the ANTI-BootCamp day.

Installs but doesn't run? I guess that qualifies the MacBook Pro as "Vista Capable".

Ian, you'll notice that Marc's followup post was posted 7 minutes after my post (ZDNet is on West Coast time, TUAW is on East Coast time). Hence, I did read his blog, but I didn't see the update until you pointed it out to me.

Thanks for the civil comment which was only meant to be helpful!

Did you even look at the guys blog? He updated it 3 hours ago saying Vista was a no go. (Not to mention some guys on the MacRumors forum posted this info last night) I guess your quest for highest post count got in the way of actual reading.

Multiple OS's on Mac Hardware ... very cool.

What is the footprint of XP on a mac? i.e. how much RAM does it need to run and how many GB odes it consume on the HD?

Now, when can we expect some benchmark tests on this? Adobe, various gaming, it all needs to be tested. But this is phenomenal news; I may never own a PC again.

Does anyone know how Apple pulled off the partitioning on the fly? I'd love to be able do this as needed (add a Ubuntu partition, a Vista partition, etc).
