System 7 web simulation

The WebSE is pure genius. This little Flash application simulates System 7, so you can take a trip down Mac memory lane no matter what OS your iMac is booted into. It even has AfterDark on it!
I love the Internet.

Nice, but if you want to see a better simulation built right into a webpage, check out:

Takes me back to the memories of booting up my old 1040ST and the GEM Desktop awaiting my instruction.
Relevance here? The Atari STacy was arguably the first Macintosh laptop if you plugged in one of the Mac emulators with the Mac ROM chips into it.

Best. Site. Ever.
Man does that bring back great memories...I giggled like a little schoolgirl when I saw the eyes following the mouse around. Good times.

The moving eyeballs in the menu bar made me smile. I had the eyeballs installed on my first Mac, a Classic II. Great memories of that machine and the screaming (literally) 2400 baud external modem.

I bought my first Mac (IIci) which had System 6 Pre-Installed, but provided the System 7 floppies. I decided to give System 7 a try after a few weeks, and once I saw the color windows (ooh 3-D!) and color icons, I never looked back.
That, I believe, was Apple's first real transition. System 7 broke a lot of stuff, and that's why it wasn't pre-installed. Since I was new to the Mac, I didn't have to worry about some can't-do-without legacy program.
I guess as I type from my Intel MacBook, I've now gone through 3 Apple Transitions. They've all been worth it!
