Extend your dock with Overflow
While there are
many full-featured launchers and dock alternatives available, Overflow
by Stunt Software keeps it simple. The interface features several wells, into which you can drop an application, folder,
volume and so on. Simply click the Overflow icon in the dock to activate it (or better yet, let Quicksilver do the job),
then click the icon representing what you're after. Simple and effective.Overflow requires Mac OS 10.3.9 or later and costs $14.95US (or, if you're very quick, $9.95US at Maczot for the next couple of hours).

My dock is hidden at all times now that I have Quicksilver. The only reason why I had kept it around was to see which apps were currently running (including hidden ones), but since I do my app switching with command-tab, that's take care of also. goodbye dock, hello screen real estate!

Is this post just a glorified advert?
@Scott: My thoughts exactly when I read this! Quicksilver means that I only have to keep the bare essentials in the Dock, and sometimes I've found myself wondering why I even need it at all...
April 13 2006 at 2:39 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replywhy would one use quicksilver to launch this app in order to launch another, when one can use quicksilver to launch the apps which are in Overflow, thus removing Overflow from the equation?

Would be better if it could be more seamlessly intergrated with the dock and had a preference pane in system prefs.
I am a dock neat freak and this is extremely helpful for those Apps that "don't fit in" with the other icons in my dock/
