Skype now Universal
Skype 1.4.0.39 is now available, and if you're on an Intel Mac
you might want to download it. Why? Because it is now a Universal App, so you can kiss Rosetta goodbye (at least for
your Skype calls). Be aware that if you are on an Intel Mac and you do upgrade you can't revert to a lower version
number. I don't know why you would want to, but it is something you should be aware of.This version also adds 'web presence' and Traditional Chinese language support.
Thanks, Ben.
Update: It seems this version has been pulled since... well it just plain didn't work!

I downloaded the new version and it will not work. When I go back to Skype to try and download the old version it is still sending the version that will not work. Is there anywhere on the net that has the old version for download?
What a mess!
This better not mean I have to type my contacts in all over again!! One word "Bastards"

Maybe they have enough space and will be able to implement it soon, but if not, at least be reasonable and have patience. (Or do they plan to spread the bandwidth burden amongst the users? Hm ...)

I did too and it didn't work, it was my choice. However on mine I just got the officially released skype .35 build and re copied that to my applications dir and it works still, but come one skype - we want universal binary (With video) dammit

Weird, thought that Universal says 'I can run on both ppc and intel'...
same here, had to go back to an older version.

Not that it really matters too much, I already switched to Gizmo which has been Universal for some time.
I downloaded it today and don't work (powerbook G4)
looks like it doesn't work at all
they need to release a mac version that works with isight. anyone know a workaround? trying to do video chat with mother-in-law across the globe, but she has pc and i have a mac...
