Found Footage: We Are Apple, a 1984 Musical Montage
This video was ripped from a videotape (which explains the lack of video quality) of the 1984 Apple Shareholders' meeting, where the original Macintosh was unveiled (this is unconfirmed; some are saying it was shown at the Moscone Center during the launch of the Apple IIc). Like a train wreck, I just can't look away. I've watched it about a dozen times now. I think there might be something wrong with me.

Hilarious, that is classic 80's. The last minute is priceless.
I don't suppose that anyone has the lyrics so I can see along?

Egads! Had I seen that video before buying Apple computers, I think it would have kept me from being a Mac man.
Maybe they could've used Cyndi Lauper - "Macs just wanna have fun".

There is this tune, and others such as Apple ][ Forever. I came across a website (cnet?) a while back with them all listed, but I can't seem to find it now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a video like that at a Dell, Microsoft, Gateway, Motorola or Wal-Mart rally/meeting today.
That's the difference. (Two decades, apparently.)

After a little more googling (and wine!) I finally found the blog entry that lead me to the list of songs before.
This is the blog entry (also contains a link to a .mov version of this movie):
http://macenstein.com/default/archives/100
This is the audio version (.mp3) of the song in this movie:
http://macenstein.com/images/We_Are_Apple.mp3
And this is the site that lists another 4 apple songs, including the one I have, Apple ][ Forever. (It wasn't Cnet, it was Zdnet!):

Spread the apple love (and er, songs!) people!

So I take it it was a good thing I was born in 1993? lol Would that have been something cool back then? :P Like when I first saw Saved by the Bell. "Was it cool to wear a purple suit jacket with a blue shirt and green pants?" I think I still would have been an Apple geek if I was born in 1973. :-)

I love all that clumsy funny delirious mad attempt by enterprise to amuse people and workers (with all the great serious attitude).
maybe it's ridiculous, but it's fun, it's history, nobody will accept to say he/she had a part in it and it's that is fun with good companies : the goofy stuff.
Leaading the waay, Aaapple.
thanks for this gem.

Phillip: Any chance you could post that extended version somewhere? I'd be very interesting in listening to it.

Hmmm ... maybe a trademark dispute wasn't the reason Apple Corps tried to stop Apple Computer from getting involved in music.

For everyone unlucky enough to have missed the 80's, basically watch that a few times and then put on a poor quality vhs tape of The A Team - no dvd's now! Cassette tape copies from FM radio of early Madonna and Prince on your massive Walkman and you have the iPod experience in glorious analogue with 1 hour of hiss ridden music on tap! Yeah, those were the days alright. Though I should seriously have stayed away from BASIC in hindsight...

I think we all agree that this is not Apples finest moment (but then again, in 1984 this might have been pretty cool)
Anyways, I can confirm that the video is from the 1984 Apple shareholder's meeting, the Macintosh day...
If anyone is interested in the entire 90 minutes footage from the event, you can watch it here:
