iWeb 1.1 can handle multiple site databases

I was pretty darn happy with iWeb's update the other day, and good news of feature  enhancements is still cropping up. Comments on my review of iWeb's new features pointed out such handy additions as a pop-up calendar when clicking on a blog post's date - great for adjusting its schedule. There are also six new themes that add some much appreciated diversity to iWeb's style.

Then today I noticed this Apple Support document that details iWeb 1.1's ability to handle more than one website/database file. Now, you can create multiple database files and work on them separately. In fact, you can keep these files anywhere you want to; not just in your Application Support folder.

Check out the Apple Support document for details on how to create a second iWeb database and how to handle working with multiple sites. There are a couple of minor gotcha's, but overall, this should be good news for anyone who wants to use iWeb to create and manage multiple, completely separate websites (publishing to non-.Mac locations, of course).

It is making great strides at becoming a very usable product. I think that most will find that these initial idiosyncratic operations will be overlooked in the next few years. The new templates are a huge improvement and make me look forward now to video-casting my upcoming Hawaii trip. They have definitely focused on user experience and that is important. Now get the code a little more semantic, clean and standards compliant. Before this however, support for standard FTP or .Mac would put this application into play. This particular issue is like removing POP capability from Mail.app.

I'd be interested too. It seems the excuse is the .mac servers are getting hammered but I don't believe that as I can publish my iWeb site to a local folder and it transfers just fine when I manually upload it to my iDisk. If I can upload manually just fine, why can't iWeb?

I'm sure the servers are getting hammered as Apple support says to keep republishing as a solution (which doesn't work).

It's just sad that iWeb has been unuasable for two days and there's no sign of any real solution from Apple.

And broken for me too.

Plus now it's saying not only is there an error with a picture 1.0 published quite happily a zillion times, but that it can't determine the size of my iDisk or somesuch nonsense.

I'd like to see the version of iWeb YOU'RE using, Mr Chartier.

I just updated iWeb and its actually usable now. Dont know why but just didnt try hard enough the first time and just went on using RapidWeaver.

One issue which still isnt solved yet is those hideous looking links on the top when someone visits your website and navigates. The links just keep getting uglier and longer..
