Proposal via Apple's website

I don't think this is what Apple had in mind when they decided to put up that website with time lapse photos of the grand opening of the Fifth Avenue Apple store. Some enterprising young geek (I'm assuming he's a geek) took three signs with him down to the store at around 5:30am, and proposed to his girlfriend (see picture to the right).

This is either totally awesome, or totally geeky (I think it is both). I wonder if she said yes.

Check out another picture after the jump.

Update: Jonathan sent in this direct link to the time lapse movie.

Isn't it sweet?

Hey AJ,
You're quite famous for the funny play-by-play comments among my friends too! His name is James Lee (not sure if he wanted that out there, but oh well!).
We are still amazed at how big this all got. He wasn't even sure if anyone would see it since it was in the 5am time slot. I'm glad it all worked out!
btw...thanks everyone for defending us against Jack...now, THAT was AWESOME! ;)

Well Uschi, if that is really you, I wish you all the best. What is the lucky guy's name?

agh, did you notice a bit more to the story?

143-150 guy and girl go to sit on the wall
151-156 girl watches and wonders
157 guy goes to look what the sign says (Will you marry me)
158-166 guy tells and they continue to watch
165 our Romeo leaves smiling
167-172 guy runs after to congratulate while girl swings her legs hoping that her guy is as romantic
173-178 the couple leave the wall and descend into the Apple Store.

Have to say it again... awww... :)

-Cheers and you sure got a fanfare!

NO, WAIT! HERE IS WHAT YOU ARE ALL MISSING...

the poor guy was there long before he held up the signs... let me go count the frames in the time-lapse movie - be right back [music plays]...

... well, that took a minute. If you start counting with the opening frame as 0, he shows up in frame 69. coincidence you might ask. i think not.

So, frame
69 he shows up and you see the back of his head
70 you get a decent profile shot
71 - 72 you see his 3M post it note with words of encouragement
73 he looks at the camera
74 he crosses his arms, looks away, and reveals he has the signs
75 he takes a step forward
76 he takes another step and turns away from the camera
77 he walks away
78 you can see him another 12 feet down the sidewalk
83 ... wow, he's back again at the bottom right corner
84 he is posing up against the wall
85, 86 he tries a slightly different pose 3 feet further away
87 he walks towards the camera

88 poof, he's gone again

89 he's back
90 posing with the wall again
91 gone again

118 Boy has the courage now to pop the question. Good job thinking it over. It's a big question to ask, and what a way to ask it, in front of ALL to see.

118-128 Uschi Lang
129-139 I LOVE YOU
140-164 Will You Marry Me?

165 He walks off laughing that he did it and looking forward to his future tied down ;).

Being that there are a total of 180 frames, that works out to 3 shots every minute. So he was there a little over 32 minutes, and was in 65 frames out of 180. not a bad way to get a few minutes of fame.

if i had known, i would have done a flip book animation in advance. several of us could have stood side by side and flipped the pages. now that would have been fun, and a better way to show just how hot your macbook gets ;)

Cheers, and thank God I don't analyze everything this much. Just saw that and figured i'd give the fool full run down.

Congrads to the guy for doing it. I agree in person might have been nice, but the girl may not be in NY or the States. He did a great job, though a flip book animation with stick figures of him kneeling and proposing would have been cool too.

THERE'S STILL TIME. SOMEONE MAKE A FLIP BOOK ANIMATION AND PUT IT UP.
STEEL THE PAPER AND EASEL FROM WORK IF YOU HAVE TO... MARKERS TOO.

CHEER UP EVERYONE. THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET BETTER =+)

Just don't someone else go there with signs that read:
Uschi Lang
I LOVE YOU TOO
Will You Marry Me?

#13 > Jack Beckman, Swallow your cynicism just this once, would ya?

I'd prefer it if Jack didn't swallow and just choked and died of asphyxiation, but that might just be me!

You go, you glass-cube-marriage-proposal guy. Maybe you could have a civil ceremony in the plaza outside the cube...?
