Proposal via Apple's website
I don't think this is what Apple had in mind when they decided to put up that website with time lapse photos of the grand opening of the Fifth Avenue Apple store. Some enterprising young geek (I'm assuming he's a geek) took three signs with him down to the store at around 5:30am, and proposed to his girlfriend (see picture to the right). This is either totally awesome, or totally geeky (I think it is both). I wonder if she said yes.
Check out another picture after the jump.
Update: Jonathan sent in this direct link to the time lapse movie.

Isn't it sweet?

Very clever... How else can this be abused? What if we show up with big Dell or HP signs? Or "Get your excess thermal paste here!" ;)

That's excellent! The guy's obviously on the case.
Maybe they should employ him to sort out the iWeb mess.

By my calculations he stood there roughly 16 minutes holding three peices of paper.

Would have been geekier if he'd printed it out or had it displayed on a 17" MacBook Pro he'd just bought.

Can you say "loser"? I thought you could.
If he doesn't have the guts to ask her to her face, she'd be a fool to marry him.

Don: Thank you, I was wondering and now don't have to figure it out. Coz I suck at math and it's only 11am on a saturday.

Lovely as this indeed is, how can he be a real geek and still have a girlfriend though? (Or is it just me?)

Jack Beckman,
Swallow your cynicism just this once, would ya?
It was an awesome idea, breaking the mold for the traditional way to pop the question. Creativity is golden; it makes a moment last forever.
Someone I know, who works for a radio station, actually had the A/V department make a fake demo disc for the station, and it 'skipped' halfway through, and acted like there was an error with the disc; it then proceeded to play a photo slideshow of him and his girlfriend, ending with the words "__________, will you please marry me?"
It's stuff like that that allows me to retain some respect for the human race.
Props to the guy for having the guts to even attempt such a thing (especially knowing it would show up on Apple's homepage, for millions of people to see). I wish him the best.

actually, jack, what's worse and lacks more guts is insulting someone through the anonymity of the web. i think so, anyway.

I hope she does marry him, just because I'm soft for this kind of stuff. Besides which is worse, doing this or renting out the jumbo-tron at your favorite stadium?

Wow, Jack Beckman...you're a dick. Truly. I bet you're also single. And if by some cosmic irregularity you're not single, I bet you might be if your spouse/SO ever sees this comment.
I think this guy had a GREAT idea. Very original and charming. I hope his beau says yes.

It would be hilarious if some "dude" would show up with a sign saying "I LOVE YOU TOO, YES I WILL!".
SNAP!

"Dear Apple, FIX MACBOOK OVERHEATING!"

Heh, clever guy. But why he so sure, that this woman is watching this video? If she really does, then I wish them good luck :)
