Intelligently backup your Mac
Backing up your Mac (and PC, if you have one) is very important. Many of us only keep our music, movies, photos, and writing in digital format now adays, tucked safely away on a few magnetic disks. We hardly give it another thought, that is, until our hard drives start grinding.Tyler Hall has written a great post about backing up that you should read now. It isn't a how to, but rather a great way to start thinking about your own backup regimen. I must admit that I have been lax in my backing up but I intend to change all that. I have a Cube in my closet that will make a great backup server.

I nearly had a seizure reading comments #2 and #7.
Seriously.
This is a BLOG. WeB-LOG. It's not run by overpaid media slobs who have a _responsibility_ to uphold all the little idiosyncrasies of the English language. It's run by Mac geeks with a little too much time on their hands, who wish to keep others in the world updated on the goings-on in the world of Apple.
Take your grammar-bashing somewhere else. I think we're all a bit sick of it.

dude. were you drunk when you wrote this? I swear, it's full of the most intense corruptions of the english language that i've ever seen.

Also, don't rely so much on magnetic media with moving parts, back up to DVD also and keep it in a cool, dry place. I just don't trust hard drives anymore.
May 27 2006 at 12:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI find it a lot easier to just make up a clone of my Hard Drive, and then smart update it every day or week using SuperDuper!
May 27 2006 at 1:07 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat a waste of time. Just buy an external and dump truck your entire hard disk onto it. Externals are less than a dollar a gigabyte nowadays.
And the convoluted procedure described in the article is no way, for example to suggest to a normal, non-nerd type mac user like your grandmother how she can back up her stuff.
I had butterfly type sentations in my stomach when reading what happenned to his siste. I did something similar once. Stuff like that is when you really feel like punching yourself out.

That should be against the law!
