Widget Watch: Kernel Panic

In the great tradition set forth by the BSOD widget, the Kernel Panic widget offers a panic-inducing performance for the rest of us. Just set it up on your friend's, boss' or worst enemy's Mac and watch their hearts skip a beat as they (hopefully) figure out the gag. Its developer, Powermacguy, over at DashboardWidgets is either a pretty clever guy or (soon to be) on a few Mac user's hit lists.
The Kernel Panic widget is free and available from DashboardWidgets.

Anyhoo, I'll install it on my machine for kicks. Plus, I get to show my friends what a Grey screen of doom looks like.
it's very old. I saw first time two years ago on eMac. :(

May 30 2006 at 12:41 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe first time i saw that dialogue box i was actually confused, after 3-4 years of using a mac i hadnt once seen it lol, its a rare sight indeed.

Although, you've got to wonder: if you're working in a job where your co-workers are savvy enough to try and play a Kernel Panic joke on you then you're probably savvy enough to notice the "Are you sure you want to shutdown your computer now?" dialog and realize that something is up!
May 30 2006 at 12:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis dude (an anyone that weould install this, is an a-hole!. The average user would heed the warning and actually restart the computer. Abnormal restarts lead to eventual directory corruption, forcing more work on the person who installed this on the computer as a "joke" in order to repair any corruption caused by restarting abnormally.
