Jeff on 123Macmini sure knows how to turn a Mac mini into an awesome PVR (that's personal video recorder to you). Check out the 'behind the scenes' pic for more details.
Well done, sir, well done.

That looks very cool
I have heard very good things about that Westinghouse 1080p beauty; I want it. If I could only convince my wife that a 1080p 42' is better than a 720p 50'. I was able to convince her that size doesn't matter in other areas, but she's stubborn when it comes to TVs...

Damn. I hadn't thought of wall mounting the Mini as well. Makes sense though.

Too bad he's using it to record episodes of My Wife and Kids.
Still a damn nice setup.

That's how our local Apple retailer (Haddock Computer in Wichita, KS) dies video displays on the wall - with wall mounted Mac minis.

Am I missing something? By the way the Apple logo is oriented the DVD slot in on the bottom of the mini. Wouldn't the DVD disc just fall off when ejected?

This is the closest i've ever seen to the thing I want most of all from apple!!!!! The Apple T.V.
Apple T.V. with slot-load superdrive, and the apple T.V. remote! Imigine for a second, a cool apple T.V. with the as yet unreleased Front-Row tv edition. Apple tv service, and finally a house/main room with 1 (not 4/not 5), just 1 remote :)

The IR sensor is facing the ground, I assume, this can lead to some problems of sensibility with the remote control. I suggest you could add a tiny mirror (at 45°) do ease IR communication:
| Mac Mini The problem: leave room
|_______R___ to still be able to load
| the DVD/CD...
WALL |
| mirror

Nice setup, but I wouldn't try to navigate this with a remote from my couch with the software shown in this picture.
This would be really smooth when running FrontRow. But hey, FrontRow does not include PVR functionallity.
Well, iTheatre or CenterStage, or any of the frontends from my list here:

The only problem I see: Plasma TV.
They suffer burn in, and if that Mac is his primary viewing system, he's pretty much guaranteed to wreck that TV. :(
I would definitely not do this unless I had an LCD,LCOS or DLP.

EatingPie - The Westinghouse is not a plama, it is a LCD.

I don't have an HD TV or even an SD or ED TV. But I will be doing something similar with my Mac mini when I get my replacement iMac Intel.
