iPod.iTunes offers 8 different ways of synchronizing your iTunes library and playlists between both devices, giving you powerful control over what files are moved where and how. All formats are supported, including MP3, AAC, protected AAC (iTMS purchases), Audible books, and video files. PC-formatted iPods are compatible, and all metadata such as your song ratings, play count and album art are preserved in the transfer. This is a great utility for anyone in need of an easy method to clone an iPod, keep iTunes libraries on different Macs in sync or simply back up your iPod's library if it's the only place you keep all your media (Apple sadly doesn't provide a way of doing this).Check out the full list of features of everything iPod.iTunes is capable of. Another handy trick this app performs is that it can live and run directly from your iPod, in which case your registration ($35 USD) travels with you. A demo is available from crispSofties.

I have used this program when i got my new MBP to transfer everything from my PC-formatted iPod to my new machine - it worked wonderfully, and was well worth the purchase price. Highly recommended program- very easy to use!

Not very long ago Apple were targetting third-party apps and web-sites that used Apple registered trademarks such as "iPod" in their names. This app uses both iPod & iTunes!
I wonder how long before Apple legal gets in touch?

#3: The only solution I've ever seen for that issue is utilities like this that make use of a 3rd instrument, in this case an iPod. Granted it's a bit cumbersome, since you sync to the iPod, then back out to another machine, but they work really well.

Why can't somebody come up with a way to share a single itunes library across several computers.
There's just no sense in roommates having to each have a copy of itunes, and an entire music library on each computer.
Some ability to have multiple users use the same database, but tag and share tags, would be very very useful.

when you buy a new mac just do it then provideing you will still have your old one use a fire wire cable and hook them up and it will sync your mac playlists and copy your music as if it was always there

is there a way to do this between a mac and a pc. i currently have a toshiba laptop and will be switching to a macbook in september, but my wife will still be using the toshiba. i would like to be able to initially transfer my songs from the toshiba to the mac after the switch, and then be able to sync between the two in the future.
any ideas as i don't think this program works on a pc.

thanks for the tips guys. i know about the 'transfer my stuff' thing, but thats like a one-off. i want to be able to sync between my powermac and powerbook. if i add music on one i want it to be copied to the other next time they're connected. i also want play counts, ratings and other metadata to sync.
is that really too much to ask? gah! ;)
