iMix of OS X startup music
I enjoy installing OS X and starting Macs up for the first time because of the lovely little welcome movies that Apple includes with OS X (Microsoft, you really should add one of these to Vista). How many times have people asked TUAW, 'hey, what song plays during the initial startup of Tiger?' Many times. Now, we can point them to this iMix on the iTunes Music Store which includes the songs that play during the welcome screen of each major rev of OS X.

As a curiosity, Royksopp is a Norwegian band and the name 'Eple' is Norwegian for Apple.

As it's said by #12, it can be found on your Mac if you have 10.4 or 10.3 following this tutorial.
:)
The welcome movie can be found on your Mac.

It's separated into two files, audio and video.
I would recommend Royksopp, their music is, to me anyway, some of the best that I've heard in the genre.
An interesting story about Royksopp, the year I was introduced to them through my roommate, the student org I volunteered at ordered a bunch of G5s. How surprised I was to hear them all playing Eple as they booted. Made me think of how small the world really is.
Does anyone know if the actual install movies are online anyplace? I would love to put them on my iPod.

I think XP already has a start-up vdeo, it's not nearly as universally welcoming as OS X's video (though it has swishing colors), maybe they'll spice up Vista's a bit. Also, I think it was kind of slow frame-wise, either that or I was installing it on a particularly old computer. Hmm... I wonder if i can access the OS X video from the install discs, been a while since I saw it.
The song for Tiger, which the iMic says is "Bytecry", does sound like the one Apple used for Tiger. You may not hear it because of the words...ignore the words, and it's the same.
The Tiger and Panther songs are pretty cool, I think.
#1, Yeah, none of these I remember hearing, I've heard Tiger and Panther, I don't think these are the install songs.
