Apple: The power to crush the other kids
Saturday Night Live has had some fun at Apple's expense over the years. From Nick Burns (MOVE!!) to Steve Jobs appearing on Weekend Update with Tina, they've all been pretty good. My all time favorite, however, is "McIntosh Jr." Young Zach wows his classmates with the killer project he made for Miss Hanson on his "McIntosh." It's very funny, and MacTV has got it ready for download. Check it out...and crush the other kids.

This 'commercial' is actually a spoof of an in-house QuickTime movie featuring some Apple developers. The script is almost word for word in many places, except instead of the public/pubic change, it was scud missle/stud missle.
I have a copy on a backup drive somewhere, but I'm sure it's still on the web -- the name has something like The power to crush other developers in it.
Hasn't Apple since had a promo very much like this, though? I remember reading something about it in one of the Jobs bios. A woman was quoted as having been depressed that a kid's school work was being praised for its surface flash.

It kind of reminds me of when I was a kid, my brother and I were the only kids in our school that had an Apple IIe at home. All our book reports were printed on a nifty dot-matrix printer and illustrated with clipart from Print Shop. While our school had, I think, 3 Apple IIe's and a handful of punch card activity computers.
Ahh, living in a poor industrial town... don't miss it at all.
Right on. Can you imagine the balls it would take to run that commercial for real? "Public Library." Classic.
