Kids these days. When I was a college man, my pals and I spent many an evening
tying one on getting to know the locals socializing. According to
Student Monitor, which conducts market research of student life, the
iPod was rated as being more of an "in" thing than beer when the company recently polled 1,200 students. Granted, it was a close call (the iPod nabbed a rating of 73% while beer brought in 71%), but still, I was quite surprised. I love my iPod and all, but I'm not going to turn down a (properly poured) Guinness.
What's your take, students: Your brew or your iPod?

Well I'd give up the beer as long as I still have the wine, vodka, gin and tonic, pimms, white russians, mohitos and good ol' English cider! ;-)

Hmm, icy Guinness? They tried that here in Ireland a while back, 'Guinness Cold' and it didn't sell. IMHO, Guinness needs to be cool and poured from a tab and never, ever from a pitcher! Guinness is great, but I concur I do love my iPod.

Dave - I've got a Guinness but no iPod. Wanna trade? I'll even make it a six-pack...

"icy" and "Guinness" don't belong in the same sentence..."icy" and "Smithwicks" works a little better.

If I get a choise, iPod or Beer... I'll take the Pod, cause selling it could give me a lot of beers.
Oh, btw, you dare calling Guinness a beer? Shame on you!

Guinness? we never get guiness at our parties, we go for the cheap stuff. High liffe all the way. If I had the chance I'd take an iPod over a High Life. I'm not sure about Guinness though, Guinness is good stuff.

Well... I don't even own an iPod, but i surely as drunk a lot of beers. Naaa... As a portuguese student of one of the oldest universities in the world I must tell you that, for sure, beer is a lot more important here than an mp3 player.

Isn't 73% + 71% more than 100%

I personally would give up beer, in favour of wine, if I could have my iPod. I dislike beer as is anyways.

Sorry guys.... iPod wins. Can you play video on a beer? No. Can beer double as a portable hard drive... no. And let's not forget that the fundamental philospohy behind iPod/iTunes is owning your music, whereas with beer and Napster:
You're just renting.

The over 70% score for both means I can vote for both. I do. Let's hear it for the iTuborg!

for the love of God!! it has to be beer. We have survived for centuries without ipods, but it is proven that ever great leap humanity has ever made is due to beer. Can you play videos on a beer? no. But drink enough of them and you wont have to.
