Hills screensaver updated

Back in April, we wrote about the "Hills" screensaver by Chris Kent. A number of you told us how much you liked it, so today we're pointing out that version 1.1.2 is available. For the unfamiliar, Hills is a screensaver for Mac OS X that lets you glide over rolling, grassy hills on a sunny day. Changes to version 1.1.2 include:
  • Fixed drawing of distant hills
  • A "Default Settings" button has been added to both the screensaver and desktop version
  • A new "Fullscreen Resolution" option
  • More keyboard controls for the camera
Hills is free.

obviously too much time on my hands

Does all that grass remind you that you need to go home and mow the lawn? Check out inside the package contents of a renamed copy of the saver and look for the "grass.jpg". Open it in your photo editor of choice and paste in a different tileable image (cracked desert floor, carpet, circuit board, whatever) then install your new hacked version. You may also need to play with the lightmap.png to get rid of the yellow cast. This workd for me quite nicely but of course, YMMV.

I've grudgingy given Apple some more money to increase my data transfer limit. Sorry everyone for the disruption. It sounds like some people are having problems due to lack of video memory or something so I'll have to look into that. Thanks.

I tried version posted here on apple site section downloads, the older version and i had same problems , notthing was working black and white, or all F••••• up colors, i played a bit witht he options and with a mac mini ppc 1.25ghz 512 ram, i found out that
hills height = lower them,
speed = low speed better render or easyer on machine,
look ahead "Disatnace" ( prob a typo ) lower it to start.
camera height , low
grid size , low
fog density med or high , whit fog ,

it worked for me and now i play with the setting and test each slider bar movement. , i wish someone post on a mirror the latest version, make a url torrent or come on i want to try the new version for the " A new "Fullscreen Resolution" option " . thx

Can someone post the file on some file hosting site. like http://www.box.net/

i agree 100% with Eric Carpenter and Splashman :

7. No, it's marketing-speak for "We don't care how much this .Mac customer paid for his account -- we're sticking to our ridiculously low bandwidth allowance. Suckers!"

(Yes, I'm a frustrated .Mac customer. Can you tell?)

8. Shoot. Is there any place that mirrors it? Or can someone here pass it along?
