iChat mod available
There's a pretty nice iChat mod available over at the MacTheme Forums. User ryantrip has whipped up this UI mod that cleans up the buddy list, the invitation windows, the main chat window and more. The whole thing is very neat and tidy. I'm not one for modding OSX, but this looks pretty good. Nice work, Ryan!You'll find a download link in the forum post, and the author has asked users to inform him of any bugs that may still be lurking. Just remember: Back up everything first (but you knew that, right?)!

It's all well and good using Adium but it don't do video or audio chat.

I love using adium myself but there are a few downfalls using adium. My biggest downfall is not be able to transfer files to some one on aim. Then when I have to lougout of adium and get on ichat. the proccess is very annoying.

Look, I love Adium as well, but there are still reasons to use iChat - A/V support being *big* ones.

He did try to make it unified.... Just remember, this was just a little experiment of his. While it might be a little scary (read, "Trillianesque"), he definitely went a long way to make his dream happen.

This mod does not include a message window mod. You have to download a seperate one in another thread on the site. And the seperate message window mod does not work alongside Chax is what the developer said. :(

Cait's right, it doesn't mosey with Chax, which is a shame.
If you're willing to do without Chax, but want the white windows, check the linked thread. I posted a fix that makes the windows non-brushed metal. Still doesn't work with Chax, but oh well.
Side note, this is getting me interested in learning more about OS X's dev tools. I've been meaning to dive into this stuff...

CHAX doesnt even use ichat nibs and uses it's own

I think it looks great, but I'm so gui modded up the wazoo with UNO and ShapeShifter and what have you. I wish everything was just aqua. Die Brushed Metal! Die!
