New Mac ad surfaces
A couple of eagle-eyed readers have seen a new Mac ad on CNN and the net, featuring the two actors from the most recent campaign. This time, they're in boxes, with the Mac talking about how ready to go he is from the start, while the PC has to deal with all sorts of demo software and so on. We haven't seen it on Apple's site yet, so keep your eyes peeled and let us know what you find.

Yeah, gotta remove that trial software that only comes on PCs... not like my MacBook Pro. Well, except the trial of iWork 06. Oh, and MS Office.
I love my Mac (I switched just over a year ago), and while this series of ads is humorous, the Apple elitism gets a little old. Apple isn't any less evil than Microsoft - they just put out better products (except keyboards - MS keyboards rock).

But the Mac comes with demo software, too. Nowhere near the butt ton of demos on a PC, but there are still demos.

Hang on a second. Apple does include trial versions of software, but I think that they are trials that most people would actually use. Even if people decide not to use them, they are easily removed, or do little more than take up space. But the most important thing is that besides the trial software, Apple does not install massive amounts of junkware(Norton, I'm talking to you) that makes it impossible to use the computer without either a. removing software, b. agreeing to the trial, or c. totally reformatting the drive in order to have a clean XP install.
Apple is not perfect, but at least they have a product that doesn't have to be subsidised by massive amounts of software. Yeah that's right Dell I see you back there.......

Has anyone, besides me, tried to download this movie using the "ctrl-click" and then selecting "Save Linked File to Desktop". You get a flashfile named "applMacs_Panl_300_061206_r05.swf" That you can play with Flashplayer that's actually another add! It's another one about the cool and fun stuff you can do on a mac... Try it out!!

These are the most embarrassing ads Apple has created since the Jeff Goldblum ones. Just wincingly bad.

Except of course for the nagware that is Quicktime. It's amazing after all this time that Jobs still doesn't see how un-classy it is to put nagware on every shipping Mac, no matter how many thousands of dollars the customer paid for it.

If by "most embarrassing" and "wincingly bad" you mean "witty" and "effective", then yeah...I see your point.

I remember when i first opened my PC, it had a branded Internet explorer which i had to go in and delete random files in the IE directory to remove, on the mac, to delete the trial office and works its a simple case of highlight the file and press apple+backspace.
The PC trial software resembles spyware more than anything.

#7 (Will) - You're just forgetting about a one thing when you say "format the drive and resintall windows" - last I checked, most of the pc companies out there (Dell, I'm talking about you) dont even give you a copy of windows so you can just wipe all their shit. Yes, they give you a "recovery" disk, but last I checked, the only thing those disks recovered was the shit that you spent 48 hours trying to delete. Plus even when you pay them for an actual windows disk, you dont get a clean version; its still trashed w/ all the "by dell" crap... bastards.
