Call of Duty 2 Hits Stores
At long last, the long awaited sequel to one of the greatest first person shooters of all time--and 2003 Game of the Year--is available in stores as an OS X compatible Universal Binary. The series, set in World War II, is known for its extensive use of sound and environmental design to make the player really feel like they're in the middle of a war zone. Sporting an all new game engine, COD II officially requires a G5 or Intel Machine, but I've heard reports of it running respectably on even 12 inch PowerBooks. I can't wait to get my hands on this game, see you on the battlefield!

Someone at Compusmart messed up pretty bad, since I've been playing Call of Duty 2 since last sunday, over a week ago. Or maybe Aspyr is just showing some extra love for us Canadians.
I'm so happy the multiplayer in this is Mac to Pc, although it's disappointing that single player and multiplayer are in too different apps.

awsome, to bad that all the macs I own have a onboard video card. I guess I will have to see how good it works with that 32MB onboard card.

Wonder if it will run on a Macbook. I don't mind running it at low settings, I just want it to run at a decent speed.

Someone absolutely needs to tell us how this runs on the Macbook! That's probably going to be the 2nd-most-asked question for these machines now, right behind "will mine get nasty yellow spots?" :)

Rattboi, you must be thinking of different game. Call of Duty 2 was released in October 25, 2005.

#4, if it runs fine on my 1.8ghz G5 and a 1.5ghz powerbook, you can kind of guess how it will run on my macbook pro 17" cant you? So there is your answer :)

Amazon delivered mine more than a week ago. It runs very fast on my MPB 2.16GHz! I've been through the entire game and can say that is very much worth getting if you were a fan of CoD and CoD United Offensive. The missions are excellent and the graphics stunning. But somehow it feels like a bit less of a thrill than United Offensive. Glad to see the tank driving back (in the North African campaign).

Liam,
That hardly answered the question at all. The 17" Macbook Pro's 256 MB ATI card is a much different rig that the 64 MB intel graphic chipset on the Macbook. Not much doubt the 17" MBP would tear through it, but once again, that wasn't the question.

By 2003 Game of the Year, Dan was talking about Call of Duty 2's predecessor, the original Call of Duty.
