Visor
Love Quake? Love the Terminal? Visor is just the app for you! Brought to you by the good folks behind Quicksilver (and you know how much we like that), Visor is a cool Terminal mod that creates a hot key enabled Terminal console available no matter what you're doing.Hit one button and from the top of your screen slides a terminal window. It is pretty cool, though it isn't ready for Bob and Jone Mac User.

This is pretty slick looking. I'll have to try it when I get home.

I've been using it for a few days now and I really like it. It's perfect for when you want to bust out a couple quick commands without having to open up another terminal window or create a new 'screen.'

Requires Smart InputManager Bundle Loader, looks like I won't be trying this one out.

Is there anyway to set it to use the same key as the quake console did, ie, the key to the left of '1' on an apple keyboard? That would make it highly useful.
It does seem a little slow to activate sometimes...

Anyone know of anything like this for Linux? I don't find myself in OS X's terminal that much, but all the time in Linux.

it requires SIMBL? damn, and i really wanted to try this.
im trying to avoid all 'hack'-ish apps in case it slows my system down in any way.. i had APE installed and used shapeshifter and other unsanity products and always heard things about how it slowed your system and might cause harm to it. however, i did also hear the opposite. so i don't know entirely but i've decided to avoid it altogether. just safer that way.

Very slick!
Anyone know how to make it translucent like the icon shows it? not really necessary, but it would be cool.

Maybe my noobness is showing, but why do people seem to be afraid to install this? They seem to not like SIMBL (#3 and #6), is it a Tiger only thing? Or does it lead to security holes? Just wondering!

It's a paranoia thing, combined with an 'I think I know what I'm talking about but really have no clue'-thing, combined with a 'no backup system in place'-thing.
SIMBL's worked fine for me and many other people for a long time with SafariStand. Visor works fine as well. So does APE, for a number of 'haxies'. No slowdowns, no crashes. (PM G4 400) Easy to disable if I want to test, troubleshoot, or run something really processor-intensive.
Still the paranoia about system 'hacks' remains, even in the face of corrective information. Nothing can be done for these people, they will always whine about the possibility of something going wrong even if they have no intention of actually installing the app in question to try it themselves. (If you have nothing useful to add to the discussion, please just don't post anything.)
Make a different user account for testing. Have a good backup schedule in place. Be aware of what you're clicking.
It's that simple to stay safe with these hacks/resedits. The developers of these things aren't morons, they aren't about to release something malicious and completely untested.
Tilda looks interesting, I bookmarked the site for when I get a Linux box set up. Thanks for the link, #8.
