I love Interarchy!
Interarchy isn't for everyone. Interarchy is to Transmit what Aperture is to iPhoto. If you are a creative professional or a power user I highly recommend Interarchy. It is an integral part of my work flow.

Interarchy kicks butt. I still use version 7 every day.
Why version 7? I bought it last year, and no, upgrades aren't free. Only bug fix updates to the old version until the new one came out.
Sure would be great to be using that nice updated interface, but they considered 7 months previous to be too far back to provide me with a license to version 8. I still recommend it, but I let everyone know about their upgrade policy.

Someone must be 15 years old at TUAW.
TUAW? That's not journalism. That's fishing for ad hits.

Dastardly Dan,
It has been our policy for a very long time now to have one paid major upgrade roughly every 12-18 months. This allows us to have a reasonably steady revenue to pay for development, and put food on the table for our families.
We released 8 free updates for Interarchy 7. These updates were not just bug fixes.
For this release, we've implemented over 300 feature requests. Obviously, it is up to each person to decide whether any new version is worth the upgrade fee, if not, there is no need to pay it.
Kind Regards,
Matthew Drayton
