Microsoft buys iView Multimedia
iView Multimedia, the makers of iViewMediaPro, has been purchased by the good folks in Redmond: Microsoft (cue dramatic music).Yan Calotychos, founder of iView Multimedia (and one would imagine owner of a big check from Microsoft) says that iView was born on the Mac and will stay on the Mac. I seem to recall Bungie saying something similar about Halo when they were bought out (though it did eventually come out for the Mac, so there is hope!).

This is indeed a sad sad day.. I have been using iView for years... and now it seems as though my time is limited.

Other DAM systems are: Canto Cumulus and Phase One/Capture One.
Perhaps the most interesting part of this iView thing, though, is that all the image/movie processing stuff in the program is really QuickTime. So M$ is going to have to rip out the heart and replace it with their own. If they keep a Mac version they will have an opportunity to "trojan horse" a whole lot of Windows image/movie processing stuff onto the Mac platform.
Perhaps they are going to try and take on the iApps on their home territory..?
Do we feel the Clash of the Steves coming on..?

iView Multimedia will continue to be available for the Mac, of course. But the newly rebranded product (that is to say, the next version) will be Windows only.

I really liked iView, I have been using it for years (since 2001). Oh well.
I quite like this software - any alternatives?

But Ballmer is an idiot, but he doesn't get to make every dession, Microsoft has a BOD remember?
I've been very disappointed with iView MediaPro 3. Has to be the worst purchase I've ever made for my mac. I guess it will only get worse now.
