Adium's icon designer on its past, present and future

You might not know who Adam Betts is, but you've probably seen, or at least heard of, some of his work which includes the icon of a pretty famous Mac OS X chat client: Adium. The animated, quacking duck icon has made a bit of a name for itself, and Phill Ryu (of MacThemes and Widget Machine fame) decided to sit down with Adam Betts and quack ecstatic about the icon's past, present and future. Check it out for Adam's take on everything from Apple's icon guidelines (believe it or not, they have them) to whether Adiumy the Duck will get his own MySpace profile.

I thought the first thing everyone did on installing Adium was replace the duck with Gir? (http://www.adiumxtras.com/index.php?a=xtras&xtra_id=156)
Every single friend of mine uses him :)

I enjoy the irony of your comment: it not only implies that you still read TUAW, but care enough to go through the song-and-dance necessary to post a comment.

Don't like TUAW? Then stick to the Apple section of digg....if your contribution to TUAW is going to be how much you don't like it, then your time is better spent elsewhere.

Regardless of where you _should_ be spending your time, thanks for a little chuckle in the middle of an otherwise boring workday.

At least Phill Ryu writes a real freakin blog. All you boys here at TUAW do is repost anything from digg / Apple that you find slightly interesting, or a slight update of one of your favorite programs.

I applaud Phill, because he singularly outputs more original Mac-themed writing than the entire TUAW staff. I used to compulsively check TUAW for updates. Now, I check digg.com/apple and don't even bother to check TUAW. At least someone out there can write their own material.
