VH1's Best Week Ever spoofs the new Mac ads
Hooray for music television stations that do anything but these days: VH1's 'Best Week Ever' has spoofed the new Mac ads, and we have to say: they're pretty darn funny. They might not be safe for work (mild language), but they did a good job of capturing the somewhat pretentious and put-off attitude of 'the Mac'. Enjoy.

They are not a single bit funny, unfortunately. They had the chance to make this entertaining but both characters just go way overboard. It's sad to see that some people are actually entertained by this crap. A waste of time and not worthy to be a news item at all.

I'm a switcher, and this hurts my feelings.... NOT lol xD
funny.. but come on.. PCs are lame, and apple is trying to make Mac "cool", and that sucks, cuz marketing suck... I'm not a snob who bought a mac to showoff. I need a reliable laptop. end of story. dont make fake "Mac cool guys" just to sell mac, tell the truth!.. even with all the mac new problems, MAC>PC.

This spoof, like most of VH1's confused attempt to avoid ever actually playing music, is a giant waste of time. Not only does the spoof fall flat, but it reverses the roles so much that the PC guy comes off as an arrogant psychotic robot who is a five day waiting period away from shooting someone, while the trust-fund wannabe is annoying, but actually good natured.
Apparently, PC users have a chip on their shoulder, they're either so sensitive they can't stand a gentle ribbing or they're so frustrated they want to shove a perfectly good iPod into someone's sunshine.
The commercials made be problematic, but it's not because the commercials are mean-spirited or cruel (unlike 'Best Week Ever') it's because the commercials seem to expose a lack of self-confidence on PC users.

In response to pmingram's post - I have to say these commercials specifically depict people like you, arrogant, mightier than though mac posers, and they do a damn good job of it!
I support mario's take - Apple did a crappy job with this marketing campaign. Cute and humerous, but when have they EVER advertised real life benefits of using a mac. Really - who the F cares about iLife?! Surely not any hipsters with trust funds who know for sure how to pirate the latest version of Aperature or Shake. On the other hand, their market share seems to be doing pretty good and I'm sure they're saving their cash for promoting Leopard.

I too laughed out loud watching this stuff. The programming now, including Best Week Ever is 10x better than any music video VH1 played. This is a perfect example.
And seriously, if you can't laugh at this, you take this whole mac vs. pc way too seriously and owe it to yourselves to outside and meet some people of the opposite sex.

The third one was funny. That was it.
They changed the Mac personality into a stupid fratboy-drug-addict stereostype and called it pretentious, indie and a film student. Their Mac personality acted more like a middle schooler than a college student. I mean, they actually used the phrase "righteous" which has not been said seriously since the early 00s... it's as if they took every annoying young male stereotype they could and rolled it into one.
Jason Long actually is believable as a college student. In the parody, I just wanted to kill the Mac character. He does not deserve to live.
As for the PC guy ... he was just boring. Not a very good actor.
Overplayed.

fowler, oxjox:
1. People care about iLife because it's easy to use. If you want to make home movies, organize pictures, make dvds of home movies, keep a collection of songs, record songs or podcasts .. then iLife is the best package on Mac or PC for that.
2. They do advertise the benefits of a mac, dumb*ss. Watch an ad or two.
3. The only thing I hate more than mac yuppie hipsters are the people who make fun of them and point fingers and laugh at them. DON'T ASSUME THAT BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T LIKE THIS PARODY THAT THEY ARE INCAPABLE OF HAV ING FRIENDS IN THE REAL WORLD. Good god you retard! It's not just the subject matter of the parody, it's also the type of humor. The type of humor in the parody is childish and makes typical jabs at the Mac user fan base. Old and overplayed.
If I really want to hear someone say the same FUD about OS choice, I'd go read Digg comments.

Like I said, "you're", as in "generally speaking", taking this way too seriously and it's pretty evident by your reply.
This isn't mac vs. pc as I think you've made it out to be. It's funny vs. unfunny and you were a casualty of war. I can bet you money that most of the people who worked on this parody either own an Apple or work on on exclusively at work. Take a look at the context of the situation and realize that the idea was to make you laugh, not to tell everyone that Macs are toys, as pc users have tried to convince us of in the past..

It must be my perch in the Ivory Tower with my velvet Steve Jobs paintings and my pile of "cooler than thou" t-shirts, but I still think the BWE skit sucks.

They started running "spoof ads" like this for Colorado 9 News. I'm sure anyone who lives in Colorado who was watching SNL this Saturday had the unpleasant surprise of seeing this. It went something like this:
Guy 1: "Hi, Im 9 news' website"
Guy 2: "Hi, Im a denver news website"
Guy 1: "I'm based out of denver, so all of my news is local"
Guy 2: "Well Im based out of the north coast"
Guy 1: "I get a billion hits a year"
Guy 2: (all dumbfounded like) "Well if you consider that good..."
Guy 1: "We really suck for ripping off such a good line of commercials"
Guy 2: "Yes, lets go home and chug some gasoline"
Ok, I made up the last two lines, but besides that, it was all real. Did anyone else see it?
