Parallels available at the Apple store now; other stores soon

You can buy an electronic copy of Parallels Desktop for Mac directly from the Parallels website, but what if you're a more traditional software buyer and you want atoms instead of only bits when you buy something? Today is your lucky day because the retail boxed version of Parallels Desktop for Mac is now available in an Apple Store near you.

Hate going to the Apple Store? Soon enough you'll be able to pick up a copy in Staples, Office Depot, Fry's, CompUSA, Amazon.com, and Micro Center (just to name a few).

Parallels costs $79.99 (that doesn't include a Windows license).

I've had no problems running Parallels for the past week either connecting USB devices or CD drives. make sure you are using the menu bar acccess items (don't know them off the top of my head) to turn on these features.

Kevin: Yes two finger click works not sure about the scroll but I would assume so.

I had the same problem with USB. Make sure you enable "autoconnect" for USB in VM configuration. Works fine now.

I expect external device support to be a bit iffy. But I've seen Parallels running on two different MacBooks and I was very impressed. I couldn't get over how quickly it boots and how well it just seems to work.

I agree. I downloaded a trial version and cannot get my USB devices to work at all, which is very important to me. Until they work out the USB problems I'm going to hold on to my $80!

don't know if you ever developed software randy, but after you ship something you take a nice vacation!

I'm sorry to hear about this distribution expansion - they're having a hard enough time supporting the paid customers they already have. Ignored emails, no participation in their user forums anymore - almost like they got it out the door and went on an extended vacation.
