Mark/Space releases Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 2.5

Mark/Space, purveyors of the Missing Sync line of software which allows all kinds of non-iSync compatible devices shake hands with your Mac, has released Missing Sync for Windows Mobile version 2.5. This update includes support for a wide array of Windows Mobile 5 devices. This update also includes improvements to syncing with Address Book, iCal and Microsoft Entourage 2004.
I helped test out the alpha a couple of months ago, back when I temporarily lost my senses and *gulp* actually owned a Windows Mobile 5 device (the Cingular 8125, if you're interested). While I ditched the device because I couldn't stand the Windows Mobile OS (or: 'regained my senses'), I must say: the syncing worked well, and I would realistically recommend this app for anyone who wants or needs to make a Windows Mobile device work with their Mac.
Missing Sync for Windows Mobile 2.5 is a free upgrade for owners of version 2.0, and a $20 upgrade for owners of version 1.x. A fresh licenses costs $40.

What mobile devices (ie, cell-phone/PDA with syncing abilities) are most Macheads using? I love my ipod, but I need a way to make to-do lists and calendar events on the go. Where's the super-duper iPhone when you need it!? C'mon, Steve, let's go already!

I've got an iMate Jamin - technically its awesome and shows where phones are going. But even as a Windows user I can't believe they copied the good AND the bad aspects of Windows in to the OS.
Now I'm living a sync'd lifestyle unfortunatly I don't think I can go back. Lets hope M$ learns one day.

Personnally i think Windows CE and its derivtives (like Win Mobile) is the best form of Windows out there.
I have a Orange SPV C600 - well by havae i mean just got a few days ago. Great smartphone imo

I have a Motorola Q (runs on Windows Mobile 5). I'm liking it a lot. Not too PDA, not too phone-ish. Something in the middle, which is just down my alley. Great form factor, too. Windows Mobile is a bit lacking sometimes, but what can you do. With Missing Sync I can sync iCal and Address Book fairly easily (though I'm hitting some weird glitch that slows my wireless connection to a crawl when running Missing Sync). Bluetooth send/receive works great for mostly anything, which is a plus. I'd probably recommend the Q to any Mac users looking for a decent phone, though the Windows side of it is not toooo much fun. :)

I use a Treo 650. It's pretty decent. I work for a PDA software company and support our products, and to be honest the amount of crap I have to deal with related to Windows Mobile 5 is just stunning. Sometimes, I think the next time I hear, "installation was unsuccessful" as an error, I'm going to snap and go postal.

I think that it's worth noting that there's no trial version.
it's all or nothing at this point. I'll pass.

i have missing sync and a PPC 6700 on sprint... it is perfect for the road. synced with an exchange server, so I use entourage on my macbookpro. Therfeore I don't sync with my computer, just use it for document transfer and install. It works ok, but takes FOREVER to connect. WM5 is good, much better than 2003SE, but it has a ways to go if you ask me.

Mark #7, having used both Missing Sync and PocketMac, Missing Sync is worth just buying. Those are the two options (aside from booting into windows or using an emulator, which probably won't be able to connect up to your device) and Missing Sync just works. PocketMac was a lot more of a pain.

I've had good luck with Missing Sync 2.0 and my old iPaq rx3115. Never had a problem with Missing Sync itself. All problems have been with PPC2003 2nd Ed. on the iPaq.
Just upgraded to Missing Sync 2.5 . I cann't get iCal to sync properly with the iPaq. Looks like a pointer arithmetic error as Missing Sync whines about an out of bounds array. But 2.5 has been out for less than a day.

I've had my Motorola Q for a few weeks now. I guess I'm learning to live with it. The UI tends to be slow and laggy. However, this seems to be an issue with every Motorola phone I've owned.
Windows Mobile leaves a lot to be desired. I think the Palm software on the Treo is better executed. The software that comes with the Q leaves a lot to be desired. The email client is serviceable, but I still like VersaMail better. It will not allow you to poll more frequently than every 15 mins.
The calendar application is a joke. I realize the screen is low resolution, but seriously, this is one of the most important apps on a PDA/smartphone. You'd think MS would have done a better job. At least you have the option of running Agendus on the Palm. There's a product called Papyrus for WM, but it doesn't seem to compare to Agendus. Iambic has a product for WM, but I don't think they have a version that works on the Q.
Oh well... I might give Missing Sync a try. I miss being able to sync my Mac with my phone. Maybe now I'll be able to sync my Google calendar with my Q. That alone might be worth the price. There are supposedly ways to do it in Windows, but I have yet to figure out a reliable way to do it without merging my Google calendar with my work calendar.

Missing Sync wins the battle. I know tons of people tha that have been waiting to see who was first to the table with the WM5 support. I'm off to buy the missing sync software right now for my MDA. I have been suffering for almost 4 months now with this phone and no mac sync capabilities. It's an ok (useable) phone, but I need a PDA and it has sucked not being able to use it with my mac.
