It's not about AJAX, there are several reasons I find it better than ASP. My main reason is flexibility and speed of development, performance has never been an issue for me, so I don't get your "underpowered" statement.

I have programmed in ASP.NET, PHP, Java, Perl and Python, I love some aspects of every language, but Ruby as a language covers everything. Ever heard of blocks?

So basically you believe design is tied to Ruby on Rails? That's like saying all Smarty powered sites have to look the same because they're using Smarty. There are quite a lot of non-Rails apps out there that use the same "pastel colors", it's a fashion thing, just like the fancy colorful sites of the past were.

Well, there's the buzz and there's reality. It's a matter of taste for one and I like the way functionality prevails over fancy graphics just for the sake of it nowadays.

Scott, you're probably right about the one-clip-a-day idea.

If you've got QT Pro, right-click (for those with multi-button mice or the Mighty Mouse, or the prototype BT Mighty Mouse) or control-click (for those with one button mice) on the clip and select Save As QuickTime Movie.... The default name for the file says "Iconfactory-Day1-H264.mov"

The ads are almost certainly regional. I'm seeing enormous yellow Carmax ads right now. (Which I'm happy to view, since I enjoy TUAW) So, when my 126,000+ mile car finally goes the way of the dodo, I will probably buy at CarMax. As large and yellow as those ads are, they are 1 trillion times better than the local dealers' TV ads.

I will never, ever buy from one of those noisy or seizure inducing ads.

I don't seem to able to get the mosquito ad, but when I see it I'll get it taken down.

well I develop apps in Ruby on Rails and to just say, its easy, pretty and powerful

That was quite cute. Glad to see they are redesigning, although I really dug the current version of their site from a design standpoint.

I like how they lil figures travel around to the back of the warehouse and talk about the backend of the site. I guess coding in ASP is considered old hat?
